Do you care if your players have their jerseys tucked in?
I was watching the college all-star game and some players did and some didn't. Then they said its a fine in the NFL if their jerseys are not tucked in.
I don't like our players to have their jerseys out.
I tell them to tuck in their jerseys for the following: 1) You look like you have class 2) They can't grab your jersey as easy (to tackle or hold) 3) That's the way it should be done
So what is your policy and what "why" reason do you give your players? (if you do)...

In the NFHS rules it's actually a rule I think. Although it seems those uniform rules change every year. I've never seen the officials do much to enforce it.

We have our players tuck their jerseys in at the beginning of the game. If our players have them out they get sent out the game till they get it fixed.

So in a tight game you would take out your best player who may be making plays until he tucks his jersey back in? I am all for tucking them in at the beginning of the game but during the course of a game I never notice whether a jersey is in our out unless an exuberant referee makes me notice. In addition if you are a lineman... forget it, it is a waste of time. He would spend more time tucking than playing.

No No, the coaching staff won't take them out to fix their jerseys. The refs will send them out of the game. I should have clarified that the first time.

Ok, I see... we have the same thing at times depending on our ref's. I know they have a tough and important job but...

I think the best solution is the belt-cut style. We went to those in my second year because I hated being in the middle of pre-game and having to get after a kid for not having his jersey tucked in. Haven't had a problem with it since. ;D

Quite frankly, I think we all (coaches, players, and officials) have more important things to worry about during a game than jerseys being tucked in. The jersey should be tucked in to start the game, but if it comes out during the course of the game then so be it. Nothing annoyed me more as a player than that one referee who was more concerned about the jersey being tucked in than calling the game.

Yeah, I think we are going for the belt cuts when we get new jerseys.

I think it looks sloppy untucked. We make our kids tuck'em in. I went to see my college play and for some reason Coach was letting them keep them untucked- they looked like a bunch of cheesy wanna-be players. Your kids have to look respectable, as do the coaches.

Yeah, our AD went as far as threatning to send football coaches home the day of the game because we didn't have our game shirts tucked in 3 hours before the game.

Wow, your AD must not have much to worry about. I totally agree with looking respectable and such but again I think there is a lot more to worry about during the course of a game coach and referee wise than untucked jerseys.

Yeah, his office is right down by the locker room and field so he sees what is going on pretty much all the time and than he goes on his power trip concerning little things.

Our jerseys are kind of long and need to be tucked in.

We wear the belt length stretch-mesh jerseys, those aren't moving anywhere.
