i live and coach in concord, CA. Same city as De La Salle We dont play them though, different leagues i hate that school, they get so much attention for grat coaching and everything, its not fair, they get to recruit because they are a private school and flat out get the best players. they get the best players in the whole bay area year in and year out. It pisses me off because every year i know at least 3-5 players on their team are supposed to go to my high school but get scholarships to go to DLS. I mean they are the best, but its much easier to beat teams when you have what would have been their top 3-5 players ever year

started career at cross-town rival of permian ... no love for mojo outta me... lol. was there the night "the lights went out." (those familiar with the history know what i'm talking about) later, for long time, was THE rival of southlake. those a-holes built their stadium across the street from us. that was one of the best rivalries to be a part of ... rivals in EVERYTHING... and I mean EVERYTHING - from football, to baseball, to stadium seating, to academics, to bands, to who had the best "rival" t-shirts, to stores, to city parks, to ... . also, we played allen back when todd graham was there. they have unreal facilities (heck, southlakes is daing sweet, too)

Rivals.com and other ranking/recruiting services are RUINING H.S. football.

I have in the past coached against some of the Ohio and PA teams on there but not anymore. I am at a much smaller school now and we would get beat by 100's if we played those schools now. The school I was at when we played those teams we were ranked in the top 10 two years in a row.

#17 st peters prep of jersey city... they are very good. they have the #2 recruit in the country, will hill who recently verballed to florida. hands down the best high school ATHLETE ive ever seen. also, don bosco prep is ranked 20 i tnhink. these two teams are in the same group and shold face each other in the state championship played in giants stadium in december. they have faced each other 3 of the last 4 years with don bosco winning twice. both great programs with excellent coaches. the only real competition they face is each other... the public schools can even play with them anymore.

Rivals.com and other ranking/recruiting services are RUINING H.S. football. I agree about the recruiting part. Ranking HS teams, to me, is harmless as long as people don't take it too seriously.

Permian routed them this year. But, he said the game was better than the scoreboard indicated. OHS never gave up and their players kept fighting as if the game was 0-0. Permian is just that good this year.

Phantom, the problem is..the underlined part. The "nationalization of H.S. football" is a direct result. Some people like that...I for one don't

i for one am glad no Wisconsin schools are ranked. I do not like these rankings not do i like scout.com, or rivals or tom lemming who makes a living pimping players IMO.
High school football should be pure but it is slowly being contaminated with big time college football pimps. they get in side the head of these players. I guess it is only natural. the kids today have all been told they are number one draft picks in anything they do. I am sure before long there will be a national playoff.

could be looking at a possible playoff matchup with one of those teams.. That's if we handle our business- which I think we will- unfortunately, I KNOW they will..;-)
I'm not actually a "coach" on this team though, just a helper.. It's been a great experience though to see the school so excited.. I've learned a ton from it..

i used to coach in the bval, de la salle is an independent member of the bval. they play a bval conference schedule but dont compete for the conf title. they are miles ahead of this (pretty good) league, though they are miles ahead of most everyone. one team in the league beat them like 15 years ago and another tied them 2-3 years ago. they had a 150+ game winning streak until not long ago and they still dont lose much they are changing leagues after this season though. they do and still will play in the nor cal playoffs so teams just hope they are seeded to avoid them as long as possible

No.3 South Panola
They are the most physical team you will ever face in your life. They are what we call down south "Corn Fed Boys"!
Naturally strong and fast!

Prattville (AL) is pretty dang good. They lost quite a bit from the team last year that blew Hoover out of the water. They are in a really good spot of the state for talent. Just outside Montgomery and about 40 minutes from B'ham. It hasn't been known as a money school, but they are setting themselves up for a nice run.
Hoover seems down to me. I've seen them play a few times this year and they aren't as good as they were 3 and 4 years ago. That being said, they will be tough to beat in the second season.
Tuscaloosa County High may be better than both of them when they play at their top level.
