How do you act? From the perspective of a head coach or OC/DC, how would you want and expect your new coach to act?
Also from the players perspective, what is the best way to get a hold( respect ect..) of the players early?
opinions please?
This may be an obvious answer but I'm just want to be sure. Its my first day!

outline your expectations, calendar, guidelines, rules, meeting times, emphasize individual ownership in your vision of the program.

I think that both posts are right on. Set expectations, share your goals, share your passion, but really be yourself. You can't be the coach that you wish you were. Steal what you can from good coaches, but be you. Coaching is a lot of responsibility, but it should be fun. I look at it as though God has put me here, I haven't done anything to deserve it, but there is a reason that I am where I am. Good luck. (and have fun!)

It may not help out for the first day. But I would strongly recommend a book. It's called a Season of Life. I gave a copy to each one of my assistants(and even each of my seniors). Awesome book...It changed my life. The best thing that it did was to help me establish a philosophy. I think thats really importnant on the first day.
