several schools do spring fundraisers and as i was looking into various ones i came across this company. they make sunglasses in your school colors & customize them with your school or mascot name, etc. you pay a unit price for them then you can sell them for whatever you choose. we like it because the spring / summer is great time to sell sunglasses. going to market them to the student body, especially incoming freshmen. www.mudslingershades.com/anyone got some other ideas for quick, short-term fundraisers?

I think we talked about this before, but the easiest is the "beg / lift" a thon. All of our kids will lift 1000 lbs no matter how many reps they must do but they will lift a 1000 lbs. We have each kid bring in 10 names and we send a letter with each player putting a personel note on it. We mass mail it and with in a few week we start seeing the $$ come in. We do very well with this and it forces every guy to contribute. Unlike most funraisers where 10% do the work and 90% get the beneifits. We do this and one car wash and we are golden for the next year.

Coach Huey,
Have a silent auction, my old program has done it for the last couple of years and it was huge. the first one we had brought in about $20,000.00 to 30,000.00 in one night. It took some work to get all the items but it takes people willing to do the work. I can email you the details if you want. Let me know.
Good Luck

Silicone bracelets were very good for us, made about $800.00 with no effort.

Good Luck we just did that recently. raised about the same amount. the parents loved it and it was a very fun evening. we included dinner and a speaker as well. parents paid for tables or seats for dinner, then we had a silent and live auction. of course, this all depends on the community you work with.

I read on apost once where a coach would sell his players thier helmets? I know the fundraising would be small when you compare price of helmet to selling price, but you would also cut down on missing helmets at the end of the year. Could somebody respond to that?

we do this, not as a fundraiser. we sell our helmets to the seniors and do not make any profit, sell at cost. It enables us to replace several helmets every year that would not normally be in the cycle.

We have used the helmets, usually when a kids got a ride we would sell his helmet at auction usually nabing a few hundred bucks from his parents. We also auction our championship helmet that was signed by the team that yr. Another great auction Item is a team blow up picture that is signed by the team and placed in a nice frame usually brings in a fist full of hundreds. It really does depend on your community involvement. If you can get a car donated sell the tickets yr round for $20.00 each and then at the last home game of the yr raffle it off. Brought us $10,000.00 once, the family that one never had owned a car before so that was nice.

we sell cards (look like credit cards) they have discounts to various hometown stores. $10 apiece, you get to keep half... 35 kids... $2500-3000, (our take) every year consistently.. only sell for 2 weeks and 1 more 2 hour "speed period," we do this right before school starts, and the first week of school, then we are done for the year. You dont have to approach the business about the discounts or anything.. the company does all of that, (you just sell).. and the discounts are pretty good. (DQ does a free blizzard with purchase of a value meal, free upgrade on the local carwash, rent 2 videos/games get one free) things like this

We sell the cards also and at first we were with a company that charged us half but then we got smart and made our own up and kept 100% of the profit.
Now we get 50/50 split with the other sports in our school.

Top, where did you get the cards printed? Was it local or national?

Season Passes:
We have always sold "Season Passes" as a fundraiser. We have cards (similar to credit card) made up, and have individual ($25), and family (up to 4 people $75). We have different local businesses offer Buy 1 Get 1 Free, or 1/2 off things similar to what has been talked about above. Ask each kid to sell $200 worth. We usually have about 50-75 kids in the program, so we make about 10,000-15,000 on those.
Most kids have their own family, (usually bigger than 4 here, so they get 2 families), and then they can sell them to the high school kids because of all the fast food/skatepark/fun things on the back. Kids at the school will buy them, and not go to the games. Which doesn't bother me, because we still get the money.

We did a similar thing as Aztec. Instead of doing a lift a thon for the mailer we did a clean up the community for the big mailer. We donate 150 man hours to clean up the local community. For instance: if we have 100 kids in the program than we would have each kid work 1.5 hours. Of course we do it at once to get it done. We get the local paper involved and everything. Great PR. Also, we do a lift a thon and have kids get local donations from teachers, neighbors etc... For example 1 penny a pound. If I lift 1000 pounds, then they owe me $10.00. This is a great way to pay for personal camps.
