when did this take a knee when there is an injured player on the field stuff come up?
do people do this in your neck of the woods?
we didn't do it when I played
now it seems like every time someone is flopping around on the field they take a knee

I don't know ,we didn't either Tog! We weren't allowed to be hurt "on" the field, you had to crawl, limp, hobble, roll or be dragged off by your buddies before you could be hurt lol. You could only be injured on the sidelines and it better be something life threatening lol. los

I'm not that old i guess nearly 31 but it seems to me that lots has changed since I was in HS. I don't remember seeing so many people flopping around on the field at a game as I do now.

Funny stuff vt, I'm a little(couple decades) older, lol but it was dangerous to your health to lay around on the ground back then cause your own teammates would kick you in the @$$ on their way past you. Had a helmet to helmet collision once during punt coverage and ended up in a sitting position with the world spinning in circles, got fussed at by one of my teammates"you're not hurt Sellers, get your ass up", then picked up and shoved toward our sideline lol. Then I got to "Take a knee"! Luckily the other team kept the ball awhile so my vision could return before going back on offense. los

Our coach in the booth was screaming for our kids to take a knee in the 4th quarter of a 7-6 game. I told him I don't care if they take a knee or not as long as they make a tackle. (He wasn't amused)

We use the time to coach... and treat it like a time out...
I guess that makes us unclassy?

Little kids soccer moms. Why aren't the d-1 colleges taking a knee?

Coach ethics: I did see something I don't like last week (Dont remember which game). The Qb were supposed to take a knee, but started to run backwards until defence reached him, then the took the knee. Kneeing is a free play, QB step down directyl and take a knee. I think this is an important part of coach ethics. What do you think?

wrong take a knee skuggbo. He's talking about when someone is injured and the team takes a knee on the sideline or on the field. I would guess people do it to get a break for their players. We had a situation a few weeks ago where a player was severly injured, spinal injury the kid was not moving and couldnt feel anything on the field -is ok now but will never play again due to a spinal contusion or something. We had our team take a knee to rest and also as kind of a show of respect since you dont want kids sitting there grab assing on the sidelines when a kid is being spinal boarded and not moving. Kind of a show of respect for the kids family, who were in tears and visibaly upset and for the other team watching it happen to a teammate. we dont do it every time a trainer runs on the field but in a situation like we experienced it seemed like the right thing to do.

yeah that does drive me crazy when teams do it when ever the game is stoped for a player. If a player has to be taken off on a strecher then I can see it. But like you said not for a cramp.

what do yall think about milking time for a cramp. if your numbers are small and 1 kid goes down with a cramp....do yall ever take your time getting out there and tell the kid to wait a minuted before getting up so tha the others can rest some more

We use Hurt vs Injured as well, but we also let them know that IF they are injured, they need to stay down so our trainer can get out there and the other guys can catch a rest.

If they are calling for the ambulance or stretcher, or doctor; then take a knee. Not for every little nick and hang nail that really gets some kids off on a tangent.
