I have been a member of this board for a while now, and would like to thank everyone for their generosity when it comes to sharing information.
I am currently stuck with a dilemma that I think I am making the right decision about, but I would like some input from you guys also.
Quarterback #1- 5'10"- 160 lbs soaking a-- wet. Great leadership characteristics, very vocal, great grasp of the offense and all of the complicated steps and footwork that we use in our offense. Throws the ball decently. I could damn near do a video to demonstrate proper footwork by the QB in the Wing-T offense. Very smart- is a junior. Played a 9 game junior varsity schedule last year.
Quarterback #2- 6'2"- 205 has the frame for 1-2 more inches and 10 more pounds. A physical specimen. Footwork is good, but is developing VERY quickly. Decent leadership skills, not vocal enough in the huddle, but the kids still respect him. Has a GREAT arm- strength and accuracy. Very smart (4.0 student)- is a sophomore. I believe he has the potential (key word) to be one of the greatest QBs ever at our school.
I've made the decision to start QB #1 in our first game, and let QB #2 develop more at the JV level- both physically and mentally. It is my belief that by next year, QB#2 will be the starter the rest of his high school days.
I would welcome any feedback on this matter. It's been a very hard decision for me to make, but one that I believe is right. Both kids are great kids, no discipline problems and are very coachable.
Any thoughts?
