Boy, I guess I have a different view than most on this topic -- it is not too late to make a change to zone - Surely the head coach was involved in the decision to run zone -- he and you need to get together and then explain to the line coach that you WILL be putting in zone this year. Does the head coach teach a segment? Could he coach either the line or the QB and you switch to the line? 2-a-days don't start for two weeks - it is not too late to put in a zone blocking scheme... Totally agree. Last year was my first year teaching zone. Met with the Varsity HC twice before camp where all we talked about was zone stuff. O Line play is O Line play. Right steps + right body/hand position +right attitude = yards gained. Low man wins. Everything else is icing on the cake. That being said, he gets on board or he's not on the staff. The staff I'm on recently went round n round on putting cover 2 in or not. Varsity HC wanted to, varsity DC was okay with it, the varsity DB coach was neutral and leaning against, Sophomore HC was neutral, and me the sophomore DC was totally against it, but if the HC or the staff decided for it, I would have implemented it and coached the heck out of it.
