Do any playcallers use "answer sheets." I heard about this a couple years ago and thought it was a good idea. Everybody has their gameplan/scripts with 1st & 10s, Redzone, etc. The answer sheets has pods with scenarios like- if they align here, we should run this and if they cover here, we should throw this. It was mainly defensive front alignments and secondary coverages and alignments (inside/outside leverage and big/small cushion).

Coach,
We have created an answer sheet. We run the shot-gun no-huddle and it has helped us very much. We do exactly as you stated, create answers for specific fronts, blitzes, and coverages. We have more to it but that is the nuts and bolts of it. It rarely changes throughout the year, the kids know it as well.
On the front side we have your typical D/D calls and stuff. I think it is great to have.

Here is Rich Rodriguez's list of situations on his answer sheet. He showed these at the MHSFCA clinic this past January: o A typical game plan includes: -Down and distance 4 minute plays 2 minute plats Tricks Best pass and runs Inside Run Options, Quick Pass game routes Middle pass routes Deep Pas routes 2 point plays Reverses Screens Play Actions, Naked, Bootlegs
On the back of his call sheet he has an answer sheet, where he has an answer for every possible defensive move: - Bear - Odd front - Slant and angles - Cover 1 press - Cover 4 - Cover 8 - Corner biting quick game - Cov 2 - Tampa 2 - Cov 2 invert robber - Run throws LBs - Wave Cov 3 - DE/LB exchange trying to mess up zone read - Safety Run Support - Uncovered slots - Change in cadences - Twists - Cov 0 man - Soft DL - Penetrating Ends - Wide, Tight DE’s - Cov 3 Hard

So did he give you the answers or just the sheet?

I think any good "game plan" is an "answer sheet."

That was kind of tongue in cheek but even if it wasn't I think there is enough info floating around it could be dciphered - of course RR's "wait time" was lacking a bit.
