last year we had an opposing coach go on TV and in the papers saying we were too small and called us a Pop Warner team. Also said we weren't tough enough to run inbetween the tackles. Well we showed them. We had 2 backs go for over 100 while they totaled 120 yards of offense. We won 21-0 and repeatedly knocked their LBs off of their feet. After the game they jumped on the bus like it was the last chopper out of 'Nam.

We opened the 2003 season with a win. What made it special was there were several guys who were supposed to be key players who either did not go out or they quit early in doubles. They were cancers anyway but good players nontheless. So we came out and played really well and won. After the game one of the seniors said to me what made this win special was we did it without those guys who said we were losers.

Like that Chuck. Had that happen with a baseball team about 10 years ago. Cut 4 seniors and another guy. Down to 11 players and went 16-2 in league play. WON THE FIRST 16 STRAIGHT!!! Same thing, had a junior leader on the team say, "we couldn't have done it with those other guys on the team".
Good stuff. Keep em coming.

Snapped a 17-game losing streak vs. our school's arch-rival 47-6 on their field when they were favored to win and kept them from sharing conference championship, the week after we lost a game we shouldn't have (bad coaching on my part).

OC for a team that had 12 sophs and 3 freshman in the starting 22. The other team had the 2A Offensive Player of the Year and mostly seniors, so we had to keep their offense off of the field. We had 3 drives of 15-17 plays and the last drive was 20 plays to win 35-29 if I remember the right score. We stayed on the ground after every play and snapped the ball with 1 on the play clock the entire night. Their coaches were screaming across the field at us to run a play.
The next year we played the #8 team in the state. They had put some stuff on TOC and other boards about their defense shutting us down and we couldn't stop their offense and stuff. We won 72-35 and put 745 yards rushing on them.

In 2002 we played a very storied program around here in the 2nd Rd of the playoffs, they were seated 4th, we were seated 5th even though we were 11-1 and they were 9-4, however, noone was giving us a chance. We scored the first 6 times we had the ball and led 42-0 at half, the JV's played the second half. It our best, b/c it some of the best gameplanning and preparation we have ever done, and our kids came out a completely dominated on the field.

You be correct, jd. I'm not greedy, though - I just want to win once a week.

BTW, jd, don't see Gophers or Vikings on the screen in your sig line. Or did your NFL allegiance follow Denny Green to The Valley of the Sun?

Last year with my dad dying of cancer, he still made an effort every day when we talked to ask how practice was going. The week we prepared for the championship he was near the end--yet every day he continued to ask how we were doing, if we'd be prepared, and so on and so on. Thursday night we knew he didn't have much left in him and he was a little confused on what day it was. When I left him at night the last thing he said to me was "make sure the TV is in here so I can watch the game." He died 4 hours later and never got to see it.
16 hours later we played for the state title, overcoming a 10 point deficit with 8 minutes left to win and cap a 13-0 season.
A lot of people have told me that at that time you find out that it's just a game and football isn't really that important in the big scheme, but when my dad's life was slipping away, he made it an important part of HIS life to visit with me about that which occupies such a big part of my life.
Three days later at the funeral there were over 40 of our players and 8 coaches in attendance for a man that few of the kids had ever met. I can quit coaching today because there will never be a game that can hold the meaning that one did.

blb, found the pic of oneback 2 TE set, had to put it in my sig line. I love to get into 2 TE sets and run a lot of check with me plays.

I'm a young coach so my best win to this point actually came while I was coaching JV. I was the D-Coordinator and the score was 0-0 and our offense could not move the ball at all but the defense never quit and showed alot of heart. I'd like to think they took on the character of thier coach. The kept fighting and every adjustment I had them make they made perfectly. We had a below average player come up with 3 interceptions that night. Late in the 4th quarter our offense got close enough for a field goal attempt which just barely made it over the cross bar. We ended up winning 3-0. It was a game I'll never forget. I was so proud of my players that night.

By far "my" best win ever was this past fall against our rival school. Every year they are picked to beat us and every year we have come from behind to beat them.
This year we were trailing in the 4th quarter when our QB threw a skinny post that our WR caught in the air, got hit by two kids, ball popped out, floated in the air, and then the WR tipped the ball to himself while lying on his back in the endzone. Touchdown, celebration, Victory!
The BEST part of it was that the WR who caught the ball - he was my son! A great way to go out!

Coaches. We all enjoy the victories that our teams achieve. What made your biggest win so special? my very first win was special...just because we won, we did it with smashmouth football and hardnosed defense...my kids handled it well (they hadnt won much) it was also a shutout victory...pretty good feeling...but i dont think it was my best win... my personal favorite win was our final game at my first year at kutztown...the team had NEVER WON MORE THAN 2 GAMES IN ANY SEASON before so they were "losers"...we got off the bus and as my friend says "you looked like a midget team facing a varsity team"...it poured rain and we had the weapon of choice...the double wing. We had a bye week and practiced our dw against the stack 44 and split 6 ...i constanly told my boys that the trap would kill this defense...they proved me right, we rolled, my fullback was unbelievable (as was the overmatched oline) racking up 302 yards and 5 tds IN THE FIRST HALF!!! and our boys played physical in the mud and driving rain to win 44-20. we didnt have much speed and they busted a couple of counters on us for long scores to make it seem closer than it was. What was so satisfying was a) we finished with a 4-4 record (big deal right? well it was here. I could have run for mayor)...my kids smiled for a long time after that one, got lots of positives at the varsity dinner that night and i heard one kid say "we arent losers anymore" (this kid had never had any season in 8 years of football where his team had won more than a single game)...that win set the tone for the following year, the first winning season in school history. pretty special.

We are new restarted club team here in Finland. Our club is one of the oldest clubs here and we have storied past, but we have not fielded a team since 2002. We restared our club year ago and made desicion to field teams to U-19 and U-17 leagues. We have about 30 names in the roster and only 5 players who had played before. For some reason the league executives made a desicion that 10 teams in our U-19 league should be divided to 2 conferences and each team have 4 regular season games.
We had our last game past sunday against our clubs traditional rivalry and we were 0-3 before sunday. Due injuries and stuff we had 2nd and 3rd stringers starting. We were down to 19 players with most of them playing Offense, Defence and Special Teams.
We came down with 21-0 victory. First half was terrible football on our part and the score was 0-0 in halftime. Second half was different story. Offense really started clicking and defense started taking ball away from the opponent (4 INTs).
1st Victory for the team ever. Very special moment for the kids and for our coaching staff. A very special moment for me.

OK you guys got me going to tell about my most favorite win. I am not a HC but just an assistant who does as much as I can.
Just to set the scene a little bit.....
We were a perennial loser (won 9 games between 1993-1998) we didnt offer football in 1997 due to a lack of interest in football.
We ended up getting a good HC and in 2004 we won a State Title.
Now to the semi final game...We are matched up with a private Catholic school from the other side of the state. The Game was dubbed "City Boys vs The Country Boys".
The City Boys had a ton of tradition-- Have not lost more than 3 games in a year the last 15 years with numerous deep playoff runs and state titles.
We were getting it handed to us early. Down 21-6 and the only reason we had 6 was due to an INT return down to our 3.
The attitude in the locker room was unlike anything I have ever saw. The kids were fired up saying stuff like this is it they are tired and we are going to knock them in the mouth.
Sure enough we battled back and tied the game 28 to force OT. We lost the toss and had to take the ball in. First play we ripped off 8 and had 2nd and 2. We went off tackle untouched and nailed the conversion when our QB went over the right pylon on a backflip.
We stuffed them 3 strait plays and on 4th and the season the craziest play happened. QB rolls right scramblin for his life and nearing the sidelines and the LOS he just flings the ball underhand at the endzone to a well covered defender.
Time for the 2 pointer and a ticket for the State Finals. Same play kid is being chased to his right rolling out of bounds--tosses it to the end zone and we break it up.
Mayhem ensues.....36-34 W and a trip to the State Finals

2000 State championship. Beat the 3 X defending champs and owners of the state record 59 game win streak in overtime after loosing to them the previous year 14-13 after they blokced a punt and recoverd it for a TD when we were up 13-7. Game was voted espn.com's high school football game of the year. Felt good to get the ring and some revenge from the year before.
