Hey guys. I got some good info on the A-11 formation/offense. I am looking for what you guys do for a crazy formation? We are a shotgun spread team so anything we can incoorporate to better netrulize our size disadvantage will help.

. . . . . . .o. .o o o o o o . . . . . .o. .o. . . . . . . . o . . . . . . . . . . . .0
Tight bunch left with a TE and Wing on the right. QB toes are at 3.5 to 4 yards depending on the play. QB is a RB who can throw. Use motion to run jet series to either side. Right wingback and inside slot to the left can be lead back on QB iso to either side. Use various blocking schemes to run much of your base offense. Use play-action (jet) to hold the LB's and throw combination routes. You should get 3 on 2 to the left or 2 on 1 to the right.

If your QB can run, and you have any 3 x 1 concepts you like in your passing game, and especially if you have a good Bubble Screen Concept, you can get a lot of mileage out of 2 TE Quads, in my opinion....
...O.O.O.X.O.O.O.................... ..................................O...O...O ............O
You can protect with 7 or get 5 out...8 gaps to defend in the QB run game, take your base runs and tag them with "Q", marry them with a Bubble Screen or some uncovered throw if they don't honor the 3 receivers...shouldn't have to add a single play to your offense, but it is a problem to defend, especially if defenses don't have any kind of Corners Over adjustment in their rules.

I liek that one, now call me crazy but the formation a couple posts up only has 10 guys? Talk about being innovative!

That's hugely important given the limited practice time that we all face...I hope coaches are paying attention.

Great for running bubble screen, speed option with cowboy motion, mesh routes, verticals, you name it. Pretty much indefensible if you have a decent athlete at QB, IMHO.

OOO......................OXO..........................O ..O.....................O........O........................ ..............................O.............................
More as a trick series than base formation but you can come to the line and based on numbers run a screen left, hitch/fade to the split right, iso/option (inc. shovel)/sweep, etc. with your backs.

.........WR.........TGCGT..........WR........ ......................................................... ......................FB..Q..FB.................... ...........................HB......................... Beat me to it! this formation from pistol depth is GREAT for the option! The iso game out of it is very strong as well. Only difference is we ran tight one side and SE to the other, so we could keep our whole option series.

Talking to DC's in the past I came up with this list of stuff they hate. I always refer to it when installing my offense each year.
Multiple formations Motion, Shifts, & TE Trades Unbalanced line Swinging gate & other odd formations Duel threat at QB A good trapping team Quick counts
One of my odd formations
o.......................o x o o o....o .......................................o.....o ............................o..o
Ran speed option to the bunch & dive. 1 man pattern backside.

...O.O.O.X.O.O.O.................... ..................................O...O...O ............O I would hate to defend that. "Red Tight" ... ah, that's what we call it. Was a great formation for us in '03, '04, '05 ... got away from it due to personnel & grasp of other things. this is not a base for us. but, it is great for QB run game, trips route passing game, and using motion to get into oneback sets. also, good to shift from or to.
