School Uniform (polo+khakis in fall semester)
However used to be Shirt and Tie... until we started to get the feeling that our kids were becoming targets and getting suspended from football for getting a detention on a Friday (school rule).

Kids pick, I don’t enforce it during the day. That’s their thing on if it’s jersey or shirt and tie. I don’t particularly care what they wear but our staff also wears whatever at games as long as it’s team gear. Some guys are in khakis some in khaki shorts some in polos or long sleeves or hoodies. When it gets cold all bets are off.

Some wear jerseys. Some wear whatever. Depends on the kid. Some of the jerseys are really tight and the kids are uncomfortable wearing them.

For us- most wear Jerseys or any Team Gear that we've given them (shirt/hoodie etc). I don't care. If it's an away game they wear team gear...white jerseys with spaghetti day is no bueno. Jerseys are tight these days and uncomfortable so if they don't want to wear it they don't have to.
Shirt and Tie...I like it! but not for my program
I don't emphasize gameday dress very much. It's a "controllable" that's not worth my energy. I don't believe it helps win games in any way. I DON'T subscribe to the "look good/play good" idea. I was an ass-kicker who wore duct-taped cleats in college because I couldn't afford new ones. I have homeless kids, poor kids, an occasional semi-affluent farming family who sold their farm to developers...not all are equal! The homeless kid coming to school and not being hungry is a HUGE concern for me more than what they are wearing.

I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-shirt. 'Cause it says like, I wanna be formal but I'm here to party too.

Coach in a similar situation and we are a huge title 1 school, with a high homeless population. I have done everything. This year we wore shirt and tie. Principal got the ties and the staff donated shirts. But I feel ya. I am a look good pretty boy though. LOL

I was in the whatever category. I had bigger fish to fry than what a kid wore to school. I pretty much followed my HS coach's "rule"- just don't look like a homeless person when we show up at the other school.

I did shirt and tie and let the boys decide if they want to wear their Jerseys. The last year I was there we did a fundraiser through x-grain where we got $5 back on each piece of cloth purchased. I told the boys that if everyone bought the sweat suit (pants and hoodie) they could wear that on game day. I think the final cost of the whole outfit was $65 or $75 dollars. I had 2 or 3 kids that couldn't afford it, but we bought them theirs out of the football budget. The program made a little money and I have to say the kids looked pretty good and the boys loved that they didn't have to wear ties anymore.

We wear polos now. Used to do jerseys for home games and shirt/tie for away games.
With jerseys becoming as tight as they are now a days our big guys hated wearing them to school so we transitioned to a team polo.

I would be okay with a team polo. I used to like the idea of shirt-and-tie when I was a younger coach (never been anywhere that did that) but as I've gotten older, I realize I very seldom have reason to wear a shirt-and-tie ever, so a gameday seems an odd time to do it.

Worked in a program once where the HC made kids wear shirt and tie on Fridays. He, a PE teacher wore a t-shirt and either track pants or cargo shorts. Never understood that one.

Wearing jersey helped promote game-school spirit, or so I believed.
Don't think wearing a shirt-tie would've done either much less helped us win.

Hate the shirt and ties because some kids look amazing while others look like they never dressed up in their lives. Our kids wear their jerseys but the "heavier" kids wear hoodies or football shirt. I can't blame them for not wanting to wear their jerseys.

We wear jerseys, and I allow them to give the opposite (home/road) jersey to a gf, classmate, whomever at the school-as long as that friend promises to attend the postgame fundraiser....all about making ends meet.

We did this when I was in high school. Girls weren’t cool if they didn’t have a jersey so our coach did us all a solid because they were willing to reward the favor. When I got into coaching I ignorantly assumed that everyone did this way. In almost 20 years of coaching I have never worked for a guy that wouldn’t freak out about this. Every single one of them protect the jerseys like are the recipe to Coca Cola. It’s pretty interesting to see how each program handles clothing do deliberately and so differently. I am deep enough in that I could care less at this point just don’t ruin it

Its a small school, and I would see everyone in the halls anyways, so I would know who to watch out for and catch anyone causing trouble. The only problem I've had is when "wannabe players" stir up fights between girls over who can wear their jersey.

jerseys. Sometimes for special games shirt and ties but its one of those things that becomes battle that is not worth fighting. I still wear a shirt and tie for games out of respect for those old school coaches I grew up admiring...
In high school, we wore shirt and ties while we gave away our jersey to a girl for the night.
