I just stopped to watch my old team practice (Just for a few minutes. After my second season of retirement I'd forgotten how boring practice is). When I chatted with the coach he told me that there's a "cold index" that they have to worry about now. I'd never heard of it. Have you?

We use the feels like temp. to determine if practice is going to be worthwhile outside.
We were at single digits a couple of days last week during practice so we went inside.

Around a real feel of 20 all day here and playoff teams were out practicing in it. Even had like 8 inches of snow Monday and yesterday, lots of pictures of that on social media. Heck there are state semi final soccer games being played right now. Never heard of a cold index.

In NJ we have a "wet bulb" index. I'm sure a cold index will be coming soon.

Side discussion, how important is it to "practice in the elements" vs going inside to the gym and getting higher quality reps? Are you guys a day or two of each, or all or nothing approach?

We've gone inside a few times over the years because there was just too much snow on the field to do anything. But never just from the cold. And I've never heard of a cold index. Maybe an indicator for people with breathing problems like asthma or something?

This time of year we can fluctuate between 0 and 50 degrees...if the wind chill/feels like temp drops into the single digits quality practices are pretty hard to come by.

A cold index wth. Move up the season then so it gets done around Halloween, which on Halloween it was as cold as a witches tit here.

I'm joking. They're going to restrict everything soon.
