Coaches,
What criteria do you use to evaluate your players at the end of the season?
What kind of form or template do you use to do this?

If you didn't lift you weren't as good as you could have been AND we weren't as good as we could have been.

If I was at a real big school and was getting great pay, I might consider evaluations. Not sure how much impact they would have on the kids I have now. They already know why they are playing where they are and at what string they are playing and they hear almost daily what they need to do to get better and they get challenged weekly to fight for or maintain a starting position. If you are like Chandler, AZ HS or some other top ranked team and these evaluations would help you get scholarships possibly, I think they could have value. I'm happy if any of my kids even play in college. Sounds negative but it's a small school perspective.

Coaches, What criteria do you use to evaluate your players at the end of the season? What kind of form or template do you use to do this? The win loss column That works in most cases, but not all. Example because of numbers I am basically starting a good JV team vs Varsity teams all season.

Coaches, What criteria do you use to evaluate your players at the end of the season? What kind of form or template do you use to do this? we grade our kids every week...so its easy for us to gather up all the grades and determine evaluation. the things I personally look for: 1) week over week improvement...did the kid get better, if not, why? 2) total score average or above average to all other players in that position.

That works in most cases, but not all. Example because of numbers I am basically starting a good JV team vs Varsity teams all season. It was somewhat of a joke

We grade out every week; whether the kid is competing for a spot or not. Cuts out the need for an end of the year evaluation.

Coaches, What criteria do you use to evaluate your players at the end of the season? What kind of form or template do you use to do this? For what purpose do you need an end of season evaluation? Half of them will be graduating. After their senior year, most of those kids will never again put on a jock-strap. This sounds like a carpenter evaluating his tools, trying to determine why the job wasn't done well.
