What is the purpose for the wings to be in a half back stance?
I think they would be better off in a reciever stance. I don't see the andvantage of a half back type stance. Does anyone have ideas as to why they line up that way, and what way do you feel in the most benefitial stance.

I think the balanced stance allows them the move laterally and go in backwards motion better than a reciever stance

Also allows him to reach/hook the DE when asked to do so.

I just see so many player false step from that stance. The way i would run it would be a recievers stance it would give the wing a good release for a pass or block down field. I also think from the reciever stance it gives a good release for the bubble screen. To reply to your comment when do the wings ever go laterally and if they do why would it be more difficult from a recievers stance. Devils Advocate

Actually, halfbacks in the wing-t aligned in the 'wing' position have their inside foot staggered back. This facilitates their motion path as well has help in the down/gap blocking responsibilities and their path as a lead blocker on belly plays. They will have no problem releasing downfield on pass patterns and as lead blockers on rockets, etc. We have not had any problems with 'false steps' with our backs.

Would you recomend against the reciever like stance for the wing position. I understand what you use but i would like to change the stance to deceive the defense into thinking we are going to pass more then run and as i stated before the use of the bubble screen

Coach, i throw the ball a ton and we use the 2 hands on thigh stance.
I feel it helps better with blocks esp. on rocket because of vision. If your in the WR what do you gain from on the running game?? The WB's are in the box, so why does a defense need to adjust to a stance? We throw the bubble and we have no problem from the regular HB stance. If you want to throw the ball with the HB's in a WR stance spread them out.

coachdawhip is right on the money here. Our halfbacks are 'backs' first and going to a receiver stance would limit them severely in the wing-t run game and in my opinion would not deceive a defense. As for running the bubble, we have never had a problem with this play. We just have our halfbacks drop step with their outside foot and run the 'bubble' route accordingly. This has been a big play for us the past two years with no limitations due to our stances.
