just heard his intro speech to the press
sounds like a "my system is so awesome it will win" goof
forgive me if i am wrong and forgive me if i am skeptical
but
winning with the best talent in the land
and winning at the nfl running the same crap everyone else runs
with talent just a tad bit lower than the rest
doesn't lead me to say the stuff he did today
now
good luck to the young coaches out there!

video.nbcsports.com/player/?id=57757this guy seems like he isn't even ready for a head coaching job in 3a texas ball just how it hits me good luck to the guy, as i am always pumped about young coordinators getting a shot at a HFC job but this seems like a total total reach

feel free to tell me i am wrong here
that this guy is the second coming of lombardi and the raiders will win next year because of their offense

Tog I have to agree.
Shula Jr could not do it and neither will Kiffin Jr.
31 is too young for such a resp.
But prove us wrong!

Al Davis is the great puppet master. He's known for hiring young coaches (with the exception of Art Shell). Kiffin will do what he (Davis) tells him to do.
The raiders will improve thats if they draft Russell, and it will make Kiffin, the next best thing since slice bread...
Just my 2 cents...

davis wanted to hire someone he could control. my guess is that the reason the other guy from USC (don't remember his name) didn't take the job is b/c he didn't want big al running the show. is it just me or was jimmy johnson the only nfl hc who knew how to handle an over involved owner? what did he do made him able to deal w/ jones?

Like a couple of posts said, Kiffin strikes me as a systems guy, not a people guy. I am not trying to put him down, I wish him luck. But seriously there are many guys on this board (I do not lump myself in this catagory) who could coordinate the USC offense that had two Hiesman winners on it along with a bevy of other NFL talent.
We will have to wait and see how he handles a guy like Randy Moss.
I think Al Davis would be the worst owner to work for in the NFL and maybe pro sports.
Lane, good luck to you man. I think you are gonna need it.

Watching this he seems a very nervous... To me a person who is prepared to take THIS position needs to exude confidence. I just didn't get that from him. If I am a player and I see that press conference, I would be a bit underwhelmed. It's one press conference though. Maybe the first impression isn't a true representation of himself. He's seating his wife and kids in the BLACK HOLE? ? He's nuts. Good luck to him. For him to succeed he needs a great staff and players who actually care about pushing themselves. CC, I agree with you. He did not seem natural.

what is up with the rumors of the past few days of Oakland trading their 1st round pick for Mike Vick?
That press conference sure doesn't inspire confidence or competency.

I wish you guys weren't so hard on this guy. He's got a great plan, "we'll get the ball to our best athletes." Now that is a novel approach.

Remember Gruden did win under Al Davis and they were in the Super Bowl the year after he left, so it is possible.

I go to the high school Kiffin went to. Our current head coach, who also coached Kiffin, said in an interview on local news that Kiffin was pretty arrogant and cocky as a player. He said that he felt having an NFL coach as his dad was probably a big cause of this. I also remember a story of him getting into an argument with Norm Chow when Chow was still at USC.

it's obvious that kiffin is the second, third or fourth choice. it sounds as though kiffin has such a big ego that he didn't care who gave him power, in what context or under any pretenses. he just wanted power. and so does randy moss and their next draft day blunder. i truly do wish them the best though
