I get up for a second, and I come back and they are talking a concentration drill that college coach did for one of the wrs for the Saints. Did anyone catch what drill they were talking about.
Thanks

The Hofstra (Marques Colston) receiver drill.
They paint the tip of the ball and number each panel of the ball. The receiver has to name the number at the top panel of the ball once they catch it............keeps them focussed on the tip of the ball.
Ingenuitive idea.

I use this...once they tuck the ball, to call out what they are looking at LACE...SPACE...LINE. Teaches them to look the ball in.

nothing revolutionary- you probably do it. It just reinforces looking the ball into the hands..

Any other drills for wr or just catching period that anyone would care to share?

Distraction drill: have two players do anything they can to distract the receiver while the coach stands about 10 yards away throwing the ball...they can wave their arms in front of him or shake his shoulder pads.

We do the distraction drill combine with a player with a pad to pop him at soon as he catches it. Not only is he being distracted he then needs to catch the ball knowing he is going to be hit.

take safety glasses and paint the sides and part of the front lens with a rubber type apoxy. its much like blinders on a horse would be the best way to describe it.
its like tunnel vision and it makes it impossible to catch the ball without putting your head right on it. we train with tennis balls too with these glasses on. they can even be worn under your helmets if you'd like, its just something we tried.
easy way to teach proper hand placement for catching footballs at different heights and get some sight training done as well.
