DW is actually a great passing formation with a bunch readily available by sending the FB into a pattern on the same side as a wing and TE. And because teams have to worry about stopping the run, we often have receivers wide open.

Knighter....do your homework. Not a veer guy. I just stated my opinion, all you DW guys get your panties in a bunch when someone says they do not like it. Is that b/c it is a youth team offense?

dmp, my panties were not in a bunch at all. and still aren't
may be a youth league offense, but i'll take 60-14 over the last 7 years, all 7 of which were spent in the playoffs.
i thought i rembered you being a veer guy, which was why i brought it up, if you re-read what i said in my post the same thought applies, the dw is what works for me, and it is what i believe in, if you have the info (or the coaching record) to change my mind you can try. but if my hero in iowa with nearly 300 wins can't change it, i would save your breath.
youth league offense, HA!
Tell that to De La Salle who lost to Clovis East HS (who is a DW team).

Since this is a thread for DW coaches, I was wondering if anyone can answer this: If a team wanted to switch over to the DW system, what books/videos/packages would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

you can start with coach wyatts stuff from coachwyatt.com, then there is Calande, as well as others that have some really great stuff, My suggestion is Wyatt and that is becuase I am familiar with his stuff!

Thanks in advance. get all of it _ is my place www.coachmarkham.com for the God father of the dw www.coachwyatt.com has nicely made videos www.coachmurphy.com (i think thats his site) - Murph is no joke, great dw system and the record to prove it www.doublewing.org for vallatons info Everyone has their own spin on the blocking rules/schemes but the general concepts are similar..., double teams, big push, lots of bodies at the point of attack...some dw packages are superior to the others but I will save my opinions. I am a big fan of Markhams.

Coach Calande, I have been to your website many times and find it very interesting. Since you seem to be a DW guru here's a question: We are a Canadian high school, so where would you put the 12th player on the field - wr or rb (think I form). Thanks.

While I am not familiar with all of the Canadian rules I probably would NOT put the extra man at wr...you can have two men in motion correct?...id probably use an I back or two sniffers most of the time. I like smashmouth football. There are several guys from Canada running my system (they did the adaptations on their own) and doing well. Go to www.doublewingonline.com and click on the dw for dummies forum and you will see a few guys from Canada posting. heres one post: " Canadian Football- "We won our third game 49 - 6. 537 yards of total offense including a 100 yard wedge TD by my FB. At one point two opposing players had looped around behind the wedge and had their hands on my fullback but were screaming "who has the ball?" The wedge "exploded" and my FB was off to the races! We have averaged 400 plus yards a game with a modified Calande offense (we lost one game due to mental mistakes). Huge plays on sweeps as the DC loaded up to stop the power series."- Spartans Coach"

Clovis East never beat De La Salle. They've never played- you might be talking about Clovis West- they've beaten DLS, but they're not a DW team.
