How does your team warm up before practice?

Dynamic Stretch followed by hurdle flexibility. Hurdle flexibility we go: Lead leg; Lead A-Skip; Trail leg; Russian kicks (go down each side for each leg / legs). Then we raise them and go under.

short dynamic warmups, lots of plyometrics, lots of cod. I dont really think of it as a warm up as I do athletic development.

We transitioned from doing a Dynamic Warm-Up to an Agility & Fundamental Circuit. Each station has an agility component and finishes with a fundamental rep.
Right now, we have 6 stations: 1. Linear Hurdles & Block 2. Lateral Shuffle & Tackle 3. Ladder & Catch 4. Grid (Agikity cones) & Scoop N score 5. Linear Hurdle Hops & Block destruction 6. Hoops & Strip
So far I’ve liked the increased pace at the beginning of practice. We are also stretching post practice in position groups.

We go right into the first drills on the schedule. Warm ups IMO are vastly over rated.

Anyone still do jumping jacks and static stretching? I know of plenty of teams that still static stretch and do jumping jacks...if it was good enough for the coach back in 1980 whatever, then gosh darnit its good enough for kids now

Before a game the guys go through agility lines for about 2 minutes, mostly for a psych, then we run @ 10 plays and play. We come out to the field for the 1st time @ 15 minutes before kick off.

Line up on the sideline, everyone in a yard box. Run a lap starting at the 50 going to our Endzone. Get into 5 Lines. Dynamic Warmup. (Stretch for 10yds, Run for 10yds, jog 5yds, Reset line at the 25) -- Hi Knees, Butt Kickers, Alternating Side lunges, Hi Kicks, Toe grabs. (there are others but i dont remember them all)
After they get through that they spread the lines out to the 40, one kid every 5yds. Static stretches.
Collapse the lines, get a break, get water.

Much better opening of practice.

We still line up and do static stretching for 10-15 minutes. We do as well, I still like BSing with the kids in their stretch lines. then we do some old school agilities and change of directions for about 15 yards, and then get started.

We do a dynamic warm up then static then a team take off period on offense. Guess we don't know what we are doing since we still stretch.

I'm not crazy about it because I think that it bogs down the beginning of practice but the kids don't feel right if we don't. I have better things to fight about so we stretch.

We take about 25 GD minutes and it drives me up a frikin Wall!!! . That old school take a warm up lap, rah rah rah “who are we clap clap clap , ok everyone bend over and touch your toes 1-2-3 clap clap clap, who are we? Rah rah rah get a breakdown..ok everyone to the sideline so I can talk to you for another 10 mins. THEN and only then when everyone feels important enough can we start practice so before practice officially starts we have been on the field almost 1hour (pre practice /Cals/ sideline chats etc....
Everyone is always looking for more time here and there and that’s the first place I can think to shave off some minutes.... we don’t want to break tradition or offend the trainer and the HC would rather hide away down at the field than be at home with his family so rather than get out of the 80’s with the Bob Jovi blasting and move to the current time of dynamic/fluid FAST warmups we all sit there with our thumbs in our butts watching this year after year. the Moral of the story is we are ON the field anywhere from 2.5 to 3 hours and this DOES NOT include film ....needless to say Coaches find other jobs very quickly or completely burn out here.
I believe that if you don’t have a solution and just constantly B!tch then you should just stop talking so I Typed up a practice plan that fit more of a current climate of footballs schedule which was reviewed by all other staff and approved of unanimously then brought it up to the HC who looked like we kicked his dog and the amount of salt he was throwing could fill up the Dead Sea ...... extremely pleasant work environment 😉
Its been good to get into this profession but I cannot fathom how much time I have literally wasted for pure stubbornness , everything turned into a D!ck swinging contest.. It would be one thing if this were just me but the staff turnover from year to year here is the justification for my tangent lol ok rant over ....
I have definitely learned what NOT to do and I’m thankful for that
