Who does a preseason parent meeting? What do you discuss (want to make sure I cover everything)? If you do a PPT or anything please consider sharing. Thanks

we do, we don't do a PP. We hit on team rules, schedules, athletic code. But we really stress, the player coach parent relationship. And we also make it clear that we don't discuss playing time with parents.

Here is mine, keep it short and sweet. Do it mostly to be proactive and say that we communicated this all to you beforehand (CYR). No PPT, but a handout
Open Prayer • Thank you for the opportunity to work together • Help kids grow in knowledge of God to be better young men and better servants. Introduction • Myself- o o Over a decade in the classroom and of coaching prep football • -------- AD. --------- Athletic Secy. • Asst Coaches: ----------------- Communication (on handout) • Remind: ------------- • Email: --------------- • Game and Practice Schedule: On handout- we will try not to deviate Things you can expect from us coaches • Support the school mission to educate, equip, and disciple students for a lifelong commitment of loving and serving Christ. We do this by: o Serving as positive Christian role models- practicing and espousing Biblical teachings o Being Servant Leaders- working hard to teach and working hard FOR these young men o Creating a program in which players are required to practice hard work, discipline, self-sacrifice, goal setting, striving for achievement, sportsmanship, and comradery o To use football as a tool to serve Jesus Christ • Establish and practice techniques and policies that maintain player safety o Possible baseline info, check with Kathy • To prepare players to compete to the highest levels of their ability- both in short and long term • Academic Support- I am a teacher, and Academics come first o Plan on STUDY TIME after school. All players expected to do so (hour time after school) o Expect all students to earn solid marks and high GPA o If struggling, work with teachers, and student, study time management o Not pull student from practice- teaches to renege on responsibilities • Parental Support- Recognize it takes a village to raise a child; we will work with you to support raising these young men the best we can. • Enforce School policy/rules- School function, school rules take precedence Things I need from you • DRIVERS- We have no buses to transport kids to home or road games- We need parent drivers o First two games LONG road games o To do so you just fill out a form that allows you to transport players (handouts) o Rather have all do it, that way if can and want to good; if not then feel free to say “no” • Volunteers: Chain Gang, Snack Bar, Drivers • Follow 24 hour school policy- School policy, if you have an issue after the game with the coaches take one day to think over how you wish to deal with this issue. • Respect Football Personnel decisions- o We only have 1 center, 1 weak side LB, etc. Not everyone will get the position they want o I plan on EVERYONE playing and contributing o We need everyone, may not be where you want, but will be a part • Have kids be self-advocates: If they have a question or issue, allow them to address it 1st • Respect discussion boundaries- o Coaches will not talk to parents about other players actions on the field o Will not discuss playing time (as that too is about other people’s kids) o Do not come to talk during games- unless it’s an emergency. We have many tasks o Don’t talk to the Ref’s- We may not get the best, but be Christians towards them • Contact me if missing for any reason- Family, medical, etc o Remind or Email, let me know ASAP • Inform me of any injury or doctor visit- Safety precautions and liability o Side Note-Medical liability is parents, not church’s or school’s Things We expect from Players • Behave on and off the field in a way that honors Christ • To follow all school rules, and to work hard to achieve academic success commiserate to their potential • To be a good teammate, and practice good sportsmanship at all times (be respectful to others) • To be willing, active, and enthusiastic learners who follows a coach’s instructions (do what they are told when they are told to do it) • To work hard, be punctual, and efficient with their time • Football philosophy • Not going to go into much depth here, just a quick overall explanation • We coach, practice and play to win- now and in years to come • Winning is primarily a product of the player’s athletic ability- so we will work to develop better athletes o Conditioning o Speed and agility training o Body control o Strength training • Heavy focus on repeating fundamentals and good techniques • Not a lot of plays, we have simple schemes and we execute (coach players not plays) • Building for the FUTURE & Now General Questions • Any Questions that regard all players/parents • I’ll stick around for any individual discussions
