What is the process for selecting officials in the playoffs for your state?
We had a scenario where we were playing in the State Semis at our opponents' home field. They had an all local officiating crew. Is that common in other states?

Let's be frank here, OFSAA is not ever going to start paying to have a crew from North Bay meet you guys to play against Marathon.

That you get rated by the other coaches throughout the season. If you're rated highly you move on as a playoffs move on. I am not sure how they do scheduling. But yes sometimes we get guys from regions way far away.
Where i really don't like it is if you did a state finals game you can't do another one for like two years. I don't really care about fairness to the refs. I care about fairness to the game. And sometimes you get some bad officials at the very end of the tournament because the good officials officiated last year.

In Texas, the HCs agree to use a particular chapter (generally outside of the teams’ home chapters). Some coaches may choose to scratch a chapter for various reasons. Most of the time, there wasn’t much dispute amongst HCs I’ve been around.
Have heard a story from a coach who I worked with who had been a HC prior and was getting ready for the Semi-Finals. Opposing HC scratched every chapter East of I-35 so he scratched every chapter West of I-35 and sent it to the UIL to select a crew. Obviously this is a rarity.
