Need some thoughts:
Long story shortened...I am taking over at a small school in eastern Kansas. We had a tornado come through the middle of town last week and it finished up by hitting out football field and high school. Stands (basically) damaged beyond repair, our locker and equipment rooms damaged beyond repair, scoreboard destroyed, and most damning, game and practice fields littered with debris. Clean up has begun and new equipment is being ordered. Here's the problem: we are going to have to go on the road for all our games this fall.
My first thought was I feel terrible for the seniors who won't have any home games. However, there is nothing I can do about it, so how do I make the best of a bad situation?

Embrace it! Preach it to your kids. Make sure all your staff is doing the same they can’t be negative about it. We are going to play anybody anywhere. We went through something similar this past season couldn’t play on our field, moved practice locations 3 different times( players and coaches loading sleds and everything on trailers). We went 6-4, only lost 1 game by more than 7 points and made the playoffs. We talked it up being the “Road Warriors” like the old WWF tag team with Hawk and Animal!! Haha!

Can you possibly rent out a nearby school's field to host a couple home games? Obviously one from a different division/league, and on dates theyre on the road. But this would possibly give you an opportunity for at least a Homecoming and Senior Night.

Any friendly relationships with other staffs where they would agree to let you wear your home uniforms at their place?

May have to be willing to play on Saturday night.
Try to find somebody that has a Turf field, likely be more willing than those with grass.

Not to make light of a tragic situation, but looking at your avatar:
Is your school's nickname seriously the Tornados (or Cyclones)? If so that is incredibly and sadly ironic.

We had our field condemned in the middle of the 2008 season (at the school I was at during that time) and had to finish our second half of the season on the road. This was a difficult situation and created a unexpected challenge for our "home" games we searched local colleges for opportunities to play, we were fortunate to be able to play one of our games in a Division 1 stadium which softened the challenge some as it was a memorable experience. Likely due to your unfortunate circumstances you may be able to get some facilities for no or low rent.

Sorry that happened to you and your team. Like an earlier post stated I would embrace it. I would tell the seniors how sorry you are they can't have a home game.
I would also see if you can find a neutral field for home games and play there.

Thanks for the help men! Yes, ironically are mascot is the Tornadoes. HA! I have thought about us asking a town close by to use their field, but the decision seems to have been made already. As far as embracing goes, that is my plan. We are going to have to be Road Warriors. Good news is next season we are supposed to have all home games.

We had a season a few years ago where we had to play our first 8 games on the road. As everyone has stated here embrace it. We too used "Road Warriors" as our cry. I made bags of dirt from our game field for each away game. When we got to our game site every Friday night our team walked the field, circled up and dumped a sandwich bag of dirt on the field bringing our field with us. Our kids loved it. We never did it at the 50 or in a disrespectful way but our kids felt like we were "marking" our territory. Went 8-2 that season so it made every win that much more rewarding.
Best of luck to you!

I kept reading the thread hoping I wasn't beat to the punch.
Seriously I hope they find a way for you to get a few "home" games. We didn't have a home filed until about 3 years ago. Always had to travel for home games. It sucked. Glad it seems everyone is okay physically
