I didn't get watching streams either til I was looking for a video on how to beat something and it directed me to Twitch. I've been pretty hooked on it since then. By hooked I mean watch in my free time, not like missing work for it or anything like that. A lot of these cats put in a ton of work and practice to run games. It's fun for me to talk about retro games from childhood with someone who is playing it. I can learn how to get better at it and make some new acquaintances. I get how it's not everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of those streamers put in as much work as we do coaching. Plus the precision of seeing someone beat the original Super Mario in under 5 minutes is pretty cool and nuts how tight the margins for error are. Fortnite I don't totally get. Doesn't seem that great. When I showed my son how to get infinite lives in the original Super Mario Bros he thought I was the Bear Bryant of video games. That’s about all I have in my aresenal when it comes to the gaming world. The only other thing I can offer assistance with is changing batteries in his controllers.

I was playing Mario 3 with some friends 15 years ago and I remembered where all the warp whistles were. They thought similar of me. I was king for an hour.

I'm finally at the age where I don't understand teenagers... the game isn't even that good. I don't get the game either, but what I really don't get is how they can spend hours and hours watching videos of other people playing it. The Lay Person would maybe say the same thing about us watching film of opponents? I dont know, not defending the weird game, just playing devils advocate

Especially in the middle of class on my IPad. If it's not film of my team, or whoever we're playing next week, I can assure you I'm not watching it at all.
