It's funny, I didn't think that I was. Then, during our game yesterday, I found myself clapping and realized that I am, in fact, a clapper.

I don't get headaches but I carry so much tension in my neck and shoulders after a game i'm a) exhausted, and b) feel like I've played 3 games in a row, lol!
I need to chill out more, lol!
Well I'm a Crystal Palace fan, but you do have to love Henry; he is a genius on the ball!

If you can't have fun and enjoy the GAME!!! Then you are in the wrong place. I clap, yell, fist pump, jump with a vertical leap @ 3 inches(hey and I am not a FA either, the kids love to see it on film). there is a time to rejoice and a time to scold!!

Most of the time I'm a pretty calm guy on the sideline, but when a thing goes good I clap, fist pump, jump and up down, scream, and even hug. I'm so quietly intense most of the time that occasionally the emotion over flows. My fans and even assistants get on my sometimes about being too quiet, and I simply tell them I don't need to be loud because they are loud enough.

I have never been a clapper. I worked with a guy who constantly clapped, and found it annoying. I am in the box. I get loud but it's because the coaches on the sideline have no emotion. It'sfrustrating. Yesterday we played a top team in the state and like every game I expected to win. Our DC wondered if we should even show up. Becua this team has 5 college bound players. I said yes we should show up because they are just like our kids they put their shoes on one at a time. After the game we had parents asking coaches if they thought we could win. I told one I thought we could, and then the Principal, and AP came to me and said"Did you really think we could win?? This team has two kids going to Florida" That frustrated the crap out of me. I don't care where they are going. They all put their shoes on one at a time. I like the press box because I am not distracted up there, and can focus on calling the plays. We run the no huddle, and I have even started going in the lift at practie with the head phones,as I then don't have coaches saying run this or run that. Our HC is a defensive guy so he is always helping the defense, and he trusts me with the offense. We challenge him more in practice then the games,as we are always checking out of things as I have figured out his defense. Anyways I am not a clapper or anything.

I clap, scream, run down sideline, do chest bumps on big plays, and sometimes even yell at the trainer to get out of my way on the sidelines. I get into it on gameday and practice.

Football is an emotional game. I enjoy watching all coaches showing their emotions. Our players enjoy seeing our emotions. I have seen my players making fun of other coaches for their actions.

Football is an emotional game. I enjoy watching all coaches showing their emotions. Our players enjoy seeing our emotions. I have seen my players making fun of other coaches for their actions. You know that's a good point. I think every staff needs at least one guy who is a rah-rah cheerleader type guy...the kind of guy who lives and dies with the players on every play, the guy who jumps up and down when a play is made, etc. you guys know what I'm talking about, that high energy type guy. Someone on staff, who is respected by the players needs to be that way IMO. We have 2 (and I'm not one of them) and both are on the defensive side. Now you also need those quiet brainy type guys who don't let emotion sway you one way or another...the calm in the storm so to speak. Man, I love coaching...I wish I could do just it for a living...that would be great!! It is.

I am one of the very few on the staff that is not a clapper, yeller, fist pumper, nothing. With our team, all of the yelling, clapping and rah, rah is white noise - they don't listen to any of it. I do all coaching, correction and congratulations in normal conversational tone with a hand shake and the kids actually seem to listen to what I say.
At half time, I separately call together the QB and receivers, and the RBs and OL, and ask them what they think will work and why, then we talk it out. The kids love being talked to, instead of talked at.

Hat and clip board thrower here.
Worked with a guy who was a gun shooter - whenever we got a big play he would fire his guns from the hip at the other sideline. Frickin' hillarious on tape watching a grown man, a red headed, tall galoot sprinting down the sidelines firing his guns.

I'm not a fist pump guy, I'd rather make a fist and clench it real emphatically. That's always been my thing.
