Is this stuff really that secret? This is a great point...and on top of the question of secrecy how often will the kids that figure out the direction call not figure out its opposite foe them since they are facing a different direction. Sadly I have to coach behind my guys because my mind makes too many mistakes trying to flip the play.Tota Totally agree with this. I think it's very easy to overthink this and make a code that tricks your kids. With that being said I think what has been shared has been really good but to me, it's always important to not make it so complex you trick your own kids...gotta find the balance.

Boils down to levels of conjugation and how you teach it... If you are teaching Inside Zone as Zorro and Zelda, then that should be the ONLY words you call it... do not refer to is as zone or inside zone - that confuses it... It must be called Zorro and Zelda only... This allows for less conjugation - We cannot have the kids trying to think a name and then figure out the family and direction Zelda is just Zelda....

Go categories and your calls become less easy to decipher.
E.g. Left are months and Right are days. Or, Left are planets and Right are countries. Or,...

School Name= Left School Mascot = Right Auburn Tigers (read from left to right) our gap scheme power left = Auburn our gap scheme power right= Tigers Did everything this way including protections. We do the same thing, just opposite, school name= right and school mascot = left, so we signal formation and play in by signals to all but the offensive line. The qb than tells the oline New York / Atlanta to run Atlanta (counter right).

To you, me, and a lot of the kids, Florida and Gator may go together normally but there will be some who don't know that.

We always run the call words by the kids first and do the same thing with our signals. It needs to make some type of sense to them.

Rosie / Louie
Rosie was the right DT, Louie was the left DT. Used it to call strength. If you here Rosie, right DT lined up in a 3 Tech, left DT lined up in a 1 Tech.

Ricky and Lucy is my screen... probably 70 years outdated as a reference but they were on the TV screen.
I use First initial, then direction in the middle. example: Laura for (zone) Lead right, Lilly for (zone) lead left. That way L LEAD, LauRAH Lead RIGHT. "OH YEAAAAH"
