Curious to see if anyone has laid used turf for a practice field? If so, have you had any problems with it? Thanks!

Curious to see if anyone has laid used turf for a practice field? If so, have you had any problems with it? Thanks! I've put turf down, but never used stuff. A guy I went to college with, his high school got the old turf from UF's baseball field and they transplanted it to their high school baseball field. Everything went great until the end. They still had to finish the area in front of where the third baseman plays and all they had left were little bits and pieces. He said it was a goat track for the whole year. So taking away from that, plan out ahead of time what areas are the most important and what areas can be a little more haphazard when you get down to the bits and pieces.

when they did our field a few years ago, there was a good amount of turf left over. It is stored under the bleachers right now. I have been begging our admin to let me glue it down in an empty portable classroom (no one uses the room next to me) to have an indoor training area
I found some adhesives designed to glue field turf down onto hard surfaces
I just haven't been able to get the greenlight from them

This was at a school in the district where I coached last. I love your idea. But...Some of those portable classroom can be junk.

However, part of the contract with the company who installed it was to allow them to keep the used turf. I am guessing they turn around and re-sell it, or use it for repair jobs?

Do you have used turf just lying around? We do not have any laying around, but we have a contact that removes/installs turf.
