Coaches,
We purchased new jerseys 3 seasons ago. Prior to, we had a pretty expensive jersey and they were difficult to replace if we had a tear or a senior wanted to purchase it. So we went with Russell and got the plain jane jersey that (we were told) would be in stock year in and year out. They were nice and we were happy. In fact this year, we made a bit more money in fundraising so we surprised the players week 3 with a new Grey home jersey. Kids were pumped.
Well - in November, we were informed Russell was out of the uniform business. So here we are with 3 very nice sets of jerseys BUT we have a number of jerseys that need to be replaced. We have sunk a ton of money into Russell and we cannot find replacements.
Anyone in this position? Russell has been piss poor on the communication. I still owe them about 5K for the Grey jerseys and really do not want to write that check.
We are already buying at least one new set of Adidas for next year b/c of this.
ugggghhhh

I'm ticked too, we bought a new set this year, and the numbers were messed up (started coming off after first wash). Was told by our rep that they'd take care of it at the end of the season...turns out, they can't take care of it because they're out of that business and we can't afford new jerseys (middle school program).

We bought a new set two years ago. It puts a small school like us in a pinch. Those were the first new set of uniforms that we had purchased in over 20 years. Also these don't hold up like the old Russells did. We have multiple with holes that have had sewn up.

We had jerseys from a company that quit making them too. I don't remember which company because they were bought before I started coaching there. We talked to one of the local businesses and they were able to find a company that made a jersey that was almost identical to the jerseys we already had. They were so close, I didn't even know we had two different kinds until the AD explained it.

I was told that even though they were going out of the business they’d be able to do replacements for 2 or 3 years. IDK

don't know if this well known knowledge, but I was told by my Riddell rep that Riddell purchased all of Russell's jersey cuts in order to make replacements etc. Do not know if he was just blowing smoke or not.

I would bet that they still have inventory of stock jerseys. Buy several of each size, and have someone else print them later.

I don't have a solution regarding getting replacements made up, but I do know that we just received a Buy One set, Get One Free offer from Nike for Custom Vapor Pro jerseys. They were offering any team that was switching from Russell the offer. We were told it was good thru Feb. 1st, but if you have a rep if might be worth asking about. We could have never afforded the the style of jerseys we just ordered without the special.
Other than that, I do agree with others who have stated that multiple companies will make a "look-a-like" jersey that will match what you have pretty well to at least get you through until you are ready to purchase new sets.

I believe this deal was good for anyone switching over to Nike from another brand. Not just Russell.
