Does anyone have a good system for handing it helmet reward decals? Like how many tackles, catches, etc? Or how to get the offensive line more love?? D line? Any feedback is appreciated. Also the best place to get them custom made.

Here is a thread from a while back: coachhuey.com/thread/77661/pride-stickers?page=1&scrollTo=831180I'd say to make sure that your criteria for handing out pride stickers should be based on team accomplishments NOT individual accomplishments. Individual accomplishments can be a major distraction and can cause the "me" attitude to flare up. Team/group accomplishments will encourage team work and striving for team goals. So instead of x amount of tackles for one guy, go with the whole defensive team get a sticker if you hold an opponent scoreless or cause x amount of turn overs (as a team), etc.. That's my two cents worth.

Don't do the "everyone gets a trophy" thing.
Stickers are awarded to individuals for making a great play. Review the game film and note the above standard efforts of INDIVIDUALS.
Each AC makes the decisions for his players.

We do them, but only if we WIN.
Each player gets 1 for the win, I dont remember the offensive stuff, but I know the OL got them for pancakes. Rush over 100, throw over 150, receive 100. For a TD. OL got one for over 3 TDs by the O. Grade out over 80. There were some others.
D got them for every 5 tackles. TFLs, sacks, creating or getting a turnover, grading out over 80. Score on D, who D got one, shut out etc..
We did them for special teams too, but I really dont remember them.

I saw one school several years ago they were black and gold, black helmets with a gold stripe down the middle.
Anyhow, if a kid recovered a fumble or picked off a pass, when the kid came off the field and Asst. Coach would slap a gold star award decal on his helmet, and everybody on the sideline would get fired up...

Stickers are basically tribal markings, a way to identify those in the tribe and indicate rank in the tribe. Plus they're just cool to put something in the notebook after the season.
When I played in the mid-70's we got defensive stickers for points earned. Something like 3 points for an unassisted tackle, 2/1 for an assist, 4 for a turnover or sack, more along those lines. Got a sticker for every 10 points. Offense was team, 100 yard rusher and the OL got a sticker.
We haven't had stickers here but I'm bringing them back this season. Will include stickers for academics, off-season weight room, leadership, and then the game stickers. I hear that you reward the performance you want, I want the players to participate in off-season, do community service, lead, all those good things plus perform in the games. And I want those that perform to be rewarded in public. This is what I want, I want you to make tackles/blocks, and when you do that, you earn a star/skull/football and are recognized in front of the others.

The only way you can get a helmet sticker on my team is to bring me a class paper with an A on it.

All our stickers are unit-based. We have specific goals for each unit ... offense, defense, special teams ... and award stickers for achieving them to the people who contributed to those units; and only if we win, which is the ultimate goal.

At my last stop we would take helmet stickers away for loafs, mental errors, lost leverage, missed tackles etc. Anyone else?

We didn't give stickers unless we won. We also only gave stickers to the whole defense, offense, or special teams unit. We figured it doesn't pay to give stickers to individuals because they can't do their job without the other players.

It's been a while but I think the only individual who got one regardless of W/L was the scout team POW. Otherwise we only gave them out if we won and it was the the whole O/D or Kicking unit goals.

I can make an extremely logical and sound argument for almost any case. The only think I would reward would be grades--since those are generally earned in a vacuum relative to other students/players. Everything else seems to just be an opportunity for other issues. Why create issues/work just for decorations?

We handed out 2 stickers for "A" honor roll and one sticker for "B" honor roll for each quarter. We also gave out stickers for each sport the student-athlete participated in outside of football. Finally we had a system to recognize the wt room too. Those stickers were all earned on an individual basis prior to the first game.

Even if they didn't play?
Or only a series? How about if the series was AFTER team had achieved 300 yards on the ground?

Helmet stickers are like Goal Boards - much more time and effort than they're worth, since it can't be demonstratively shown they help a team win.

Agreed - stickers only if you win.
Im an offensive guy but these are the awards i've had - - on the field for a TD (this can be program wide) - no turnovers AND no deadball fouls - everyone that played gets one - Qb completes 4 consecutive passes - downfield block (this is great for WRs) - Pancake/Big hit - extra effort play (broken tackle, diving catch, etc. This is the discretionary one)
For defense I would do something like this - On the field for a turnover or 3 and out - individual that forces and/or recovers the turnover - Defeating a double team - TFL - Sack - Pass knockdown - 3 hurries
something like that.

Every offensive lineman. Those players on the bench are helping get the starters prepared during the week in drills. I don't believe that they need to be excluded because the didn't start or play.

Some of our Criteria include: Offense: TD, over 100 yards rushing, 75 Receiving, 100 passing, OL gets one for 200 yard team rushing, QB/C 100% snaps, Offensive grade over 80% Defense: 15 Defensive points, INT, Forced Fumble, INT/Fumble Recover, Sack, give up less than 10 points, 3 and out (every 3 gets 1 sticker) Specials: Punt inside 20, KO return inside 20 (if KO is touch back, you must run through end zone to get sticker), KO return past 50, block kick Practice/Weekly: 3.5 gets sticker, 4.0 a different sticker, higher than 4.0 both grade stickers, Scout team player of week, each day one coach is given 5 stickers to hand out to kids who have practiced hard/done the right thing/great attitude, a captain will be pick someone each week to give a sticker too (someone they think represents our team well)

I feel like im going to be repeating some answers here but... I think you need to have both Group and Individual awards, this allows kids to "earn" their own stickers while also not isolating the kid starting at Left Bench. I see alot of coaches above me here giving out some good ideas for Indy awards that allow your starters/ main contributors a chance to earn some, as ideally they would if they are your starters. But with these individual awards i think you should have some group ones too, Maybe for special teamers it could be one for a kickoff/punt return. OL could be no penalties, WR's could be no drops, etc.

Because the kids look forward to them and I personally like the kids to get excited about things. It’s also something for them to swell their chest up about. All in all it hurts nothing and is all positive. I don’t think anyone is saying that is has measurable benefits for winning games but it doesn’t lose games either

I've put this on there before but we do two decals.
One for Academics based on weekly grade checks- 3 decals for all A's, 2 for B's and higher, 1 for C's and higher. They run a "green mile" for every D & F on the weekly grade check.
The other is for Practice Player awards. Each coach gives out a practice player award and recognizes the specific effort that earned it, at the end of every practice. Takes about 10 seconds per coach, gets all coaches involved, and kids really like it.
We don't do any game awards, that's just us.
We have a team on our schedule that did awards based on the graphics in Fortnite, and in their team's colors. Probably will be outdated next year, but I thought it was a great idea that their kids seemed to really like.

A mix between individual and team stickers would be good imo.
Team Rushes for 250 Yards in a game, everyone gets a sticker Team Passes for 300 Yards, everyone. Shutout the Opponent, everyone.
Pancake Block, individual. Pick/Fumble 6, individual.
We had one a few years back that was a Skull and Crossbones (really good looking on the helmet) and a kid could get it for laying a big (CLEAN) hit. Or a big block. Anything that makes the sideline go "ooooooh". Kids were really into those, they wore them like a badge of honor.

We give one sticker. It is a cockroach that is placed upside down. The only way to earn a sticker is to finish in a dominant position.
