Curious to what numbers you guys are getting in the weight room. Placed this on here for better response than the weight room boards. If you could, state roster size (what you usually have year in and year out), how many kids attending, any in another sport and lifting, other coaches lifting them during their sports. Curious to what everyone gets number wished based on roster/school size

We have 1800 in our school and 140 players (grades 9-12) each year. Not a lot of our kids play a winter sport, so our winter attendance is high. Since our weight room is not big enough, we have to break-up the workout groups with older players coming in M-W-F(60 players), while most of the younger ones come in T-TH(30 players). None of the winter sports lift. Our spring weight room attendance is much lower(maybe 30) because many of our players are baseball, track or lacrosse players, but the track and lacrosse teams lift(football guys also coach these).

Cant say enough about having an in school class. It solves so many problems, work them out and then they can do whatever they want after school.
I have coached at 3 different programs in 12 years, each program had a class, so at least 90% of my teams all go their workout in

We may not be able to get all our athletes to be in the weight lifting class. During the season we lift, what do you do with kids who are not in the class and still need to get their lift done? Just curious logistically how you or others may approach it. Thanks!

If they need a workout bad enough, and they want to do it, and you want them to do it, get it done. It may take a toll on you. 1. Do it before school. 2. Do it after school 3. Do it late afternoon. These things are tough to do. But it can be done. In my experience, the smaller the program, some kids can get away with not lifting much especially the good athletes. It is not ideal but if it comes down to it they just might not lift

450 kids in school 35-40 total (9th-12th) in program
We have a TON of 3 sport kids (basketball and baseball are king)and a non-existent S&C class
We go TU/TH at 6AM before school and 930AM on SAT mornings from JAN-MAY. We sometimes get over 30 but average around 25.
I don't like it but by sharing athletes and no class, we have zero options (that I've found) other than early in the day.

We have it as a class. We have a school of about 1000. I think we have all but about 3 in our football classes. One is in baseball class. Two are so special ed and it won’t work with their schedules. Without the graduating seniors we have about 60 left in the program grades 9-11

We water down the workout compared to non-winter athletes. Inseason maybe the tough one

We have 1650 in our school and usually carry about 125 in our program(9-12) although numbers were down this past season and we were around 100. We go 3 days a week(Mon, Tues, Thurs) from 545am - 645am. This was our first week and we had 90, 95, and 91 respectively. We had 110 that made at least 1 day with our largest class being our incoming 9th graders(current 8th). This is by far the largest group we've had in the morning, needless to say they are bought in.
We do have a weight training class offered during the day(open to everybody) but I stopped telling my players to take it since it became a dumping ground to place kids that didn't want to be in other classes. Plus, I much prefer having the team together in the morning as opposed to broken up and scattered throughout the day. We only have a few that wrestle or play basketball, but almost all of them attend our morning workouts. We have A LOT that participate in baseball or track, and again most will come lift in the morning. Only other sports that lift would be wrestling and track, but pretty much only in-season for them.
