Coaches,
We will be hosting our 3rd Lineman Challenge in Mart Saturday, May 20th. For those of you have never been to one, you are missing out. It is an opportunity for your lineman to compete in position specific events and have fun while doing it. Most events are similar to those seen on World's Strongest Man. Mart is located just east of Waco, TX.
If anyone is interested or would like more information, please contact me at:
jcolvert@mart.k12.tx.us
Last year we had over 14 teams compete and i believe we will have many more come this year.

Regarding the Lineman Challenge,
This is an event we put on every year that allows lineman types kids a way to compete. Skill kids have 7 on 7 so we do this to give the others a way to have fun while competing in a safe environment. This has really helped us here at Mart and our LC has created a buzz in the area and other kids from all over look forward to coming here every year because they have never had the opportunity to do some of things we do anywhere else.
Kids see the World Strongest Man contest on TV and wonder what it is like to compete in some of those events....we give them that chance....
This year our events will be as follows: Bench Press for reps Tractor Tire Flip Relay (as seen on WSM) Farmers Walk (like on WSM) Hand over hand Tractor Tire Pull (as seen on WSM) Truck Push Keg Stack (very similar to atlas stone from WSM) 1 on 1 Harness Pulls Obstacle course relay Tug-o-war
There are many different events that can be done, we change a few up every year to give some variety. We also have a metal worker on staff that makes much of the equipment we use in our LC. Schools bring teams ranging from 8-12 kids each and each event lets 5 kids compete at a time. It is a good thing that teams have numbers because it is almost impossible for the same 5 kids to do all events. They will wear you flat out!!!
Hope this helps give an idea of what it is all about....like I said before, you can contact me if you have any further questions....
Thanks
Jeremy Colvert Mart Panthers Lineman Challenge

ocinaz,
last year our obstacle course was as follows....the numbers represent the leg of the relay....
1 - sprint 10yds-agility cones-ropes - tag #2 2 - tire flip-bear crawl the shoot - tag #3 3 - agility ladder-45lb. plate carry - Tag #4 4 - 1 man sled push-spint 10yds - tag #5 5 - tire push (500lb. tire) to finish line
hope this helps....there are tons of ways to do it.....just be creative!
