a buddy of mine sent this to me today kinda cool yall have any more?
When the going gets tough ... remember these 10 things! 1. A coach helped mold your character; now it's your turn. 2. It is actually more fun to teach someone else to make a basket than making one yourself - two of you get to smile. 3. There is nothing like being in the battle when your heart is pumping almost through your chest and you can't wait to see what happens next. 4. An incredible play you dreamed up ... is executed perfectly. 5. Players will come up to you in the grocery store years later and say what an incredible, positive difference you made in their lives. And you can barely remember their names because there were so many. 6. You really don't care who gets the credit. 7. You may be the only true "role model" some players have in this world. 8. You coach and keep going with your players because you know life is hard and they might as well learn that now. 9. You are good at what you do, and you leave players better than when they came to you. 10. You would be miserable doing anything else.

5. Players will come up to you in the grocery store years later and say what an incredible, positive difference you made in their lives. And you can barely remember their names because there were so many. I have had that happen several times in the last few months where a former player would come up and say hi and talk for a min and I couldn't remember their name! Recognized their face but just couldn't get the name. It is a good feeling, my wife always reminds me how special that is esp when the player was some one from several years back.

Tremendous Post! This shows the true value of a coaching ministry. 16. When a kid calls you 10 years later to say you are the reason he is a good father. 17. When a former player follows you to a college and tells you that you are the closest thing to a father he has ever had. 18. When a player tells you he loves you and gives you a hug! "They don't care how much you know until they know how much you care"

19. Get an E-mail from a former player who's in Iraq and he tells you what he learned in the weightroom from you helps him get through each and every day.

20. Just got off the practice field for Spring Ball. Had 6 former players home from college or take off early from work to help coach the current bunch of players. Scary ... 6 slightly altered versions of ME running around the field!

23. Literally got yelled at by the freshmen HC I worked for for starting a certain kid at center. This kid became a varsity starter by the end of his junior year.

25. Seeing the "Ruby" on your team get a chance and succeed.
Every year I have a kid who is to small, slow, and weak to be a starter. But overall, he isn't that bad of an athlete, knows his football, and works his butt off.
Then give him a chance in a game, and he makes a play...watching him get up from the pile and pump his fist in celebration.

26. Having your former players come back to be volunteer coaches with you, turning down paid postitions because they believe in what you are trying to accomplish and their ties to the program and its legacy.

I finally came up with one
27. Telling your fellow coaches we'll make this kid a stud (when he was entering the 6th grade), getting laughed at and heckled when he didn't play in 7th, and then in 8th he was our best LBer and best OG.
I had forgotten I even said that until one of those coaches told me "I guess you WERE right about 52."

Sounds pretty similar to the kid mentioned in my post, coach. It is rewarding when those situations work out.

When you get your ast. coaches evaluation sheet that goes to the AD at the end of the season, and you see the HC's comments said....."Coach (my name) puts in a ton of time watching video and preparing each week. He has done an outstanding job with our transition to this years new defense, and should be brought back on staff next year at all cost. Im my opinion, he's the best defensive cord in our conference."
That might just be the nicest thing anybody has ever said to me! Blew my doors off, and just about brought a tear to my eye!
