Let players pick toys out of a large barrel after workouts. Ideas are: rubber spiders, bouncy balls, little cars, stuff like that.

I know you write that in jest, but some of my younger players would be super stoked to get bouncy balls. They would play with them in the hallways and I would get yelled at.

When I was a header we had an attendance board with each date. When they got to 10 consecutive they got a t-shirt and got to invite their favorite teacher to get a t-shirt as well. At 25 same deal with a hoodie. They loved it and so did the teachers. We did a lot wrong but this was one of things we did that had great results.

I do the names on their jerseys for improvement and goals achieved in the weight room.

Ha If you saw our team that thought wouldn’t even enter your mind! It’s just another way to recognize our energy and effort guys, emphasizing the weight room was the first thing we did when we got here and it’s something we HAVE to keep as our number one priority

I do the names on their jerseys for improvement and goals achieved in the weight room. So some of your athletes do NOT have their names on their jerseys while others do?

I tell them frequently that the best players will still play, though. Not a punishment-just a reward.
