Coaches,
Those of you that practice offense and defense every day, how do you split your time? We have to stay in a 2hr 15min to 2.5 hour time frame. Including Warm Up specials, ofeense and defense. We are an I formation gap scheme run heavy team.
My thoughts =
7 min warm up 70 Min Offense (20 min O Pos, 25 inside run, 15 min 7 v 7, 10 min team) 15 Min Special Teams 45 Minutes Defense (10 min position, 15 7v7, 20 min team)
Water at each practice area to eliminate prolonged breaks and all of this is predicated on having a full staff with all sessions scripted so that reps aren't sacrificed because of bad organization.
Offensively each day would have a focus Ex: Power Run and Variations, Boot/Naked Passes

Looks like you are giving your D and specials the shaft. I think you have to split it even or give more time to the D.
Practicing O takes less time. You should know what you are doing after a certain point.
D sees something different/unique every week.

To answer
If we had your 150 minutes we'd go
10 Warm up 20 Specials 60 O 60 D

Why so much more time for the O??? We have about 2.5 hours most days. We go 5 min warmup by position. 15 min special teams. An hour O. 5 min break. An hour D. 5 min conditioning. We change those times some from day to do and we go less time on Wednesday’s. But that’s pretty normal.

More time for indy and small group, the majority of your time in team session is spent with players standing around and coaches talking. Since we are what we repeatedly do, you want your players to be good at doing football stuff as opposed to being talked at.

Or your team time could be spent without any coaches talking.
The players standing around is harder to avoid if you have more than 44 guys participating it is hard to avoid.
I agree with keeping team time short. Just plays. No coaching on the field. Coach it up on film if needed.
