During practice and or during film sessions, have you ever observed or experienced any of the following behaviors from the head football coach or an assistant coach? a. Grabbing a player’s face mask in an inappropriate way. If yes, please explain. b. Using inappropriate language, such as cursing at players. If yes, please explain. c. Denying water breaks for players. If yes, please explain. 3a. Has the head coach or an assistant coach ever made a player run sprints for punishment? If yes, please explain. 9. Have you ever been intimidated by the Verona High School head coach or assistant coaches? If yes, please explain." (This was taken directly from the article and it looks as if some questions may have been omitted.) Lesson to be learned here fellas..

This would be funny if it weren't so sad. The pussification of this country accelerates every day.

Well, we've all known that grabbing a face-mask or denying water breaks for punishment aren't kosher, by a long shot. But, the rest of it is pretty subjective. Particularly the question about being "intimidated" by the staff. That's a pretty broad question
Good Lord, I do my best to watch my mouth but some PG-13 language slips out during practice and games. Don't even get me started about running the kids for punishment..

The lesson to me is that I'm really happy with my decision to retire.

This would be funny if it weren't so sad. The pussification of this country accelerates every day. People have probably been saying that for 240 years. Of actual real interest if not concern is this seems to be the very type of thing that will drive sports from the school based model to the club model.

And it's been true in some way shape or form for 240 years. You can't honestly argue that in era where we're creating safe spaces for 30 year olds "men" to color while petting puppies that we're not on a pretty dangerous slope.

Really probably should not be doing 1a, b, or c. I am just being honest fellas. Now have I fallen short? Of course. Never grabbed a face mask other than to just hold onto while talking to a kid. But I have never jerked a helmet around. Since I have been coaching I have never seen water denied. Language? How do you define inappropriate? A couple years ago we got called out for saying the team's play was embarrassing....which it was. Football is an emotional game and sometimes emotional language slips. But cussing around the boys should not be a habit. Grabbing face masks, cussing, and denying water have been frowned upon for a long time most places.
Intimidated is a pretty broad question I agree. What does that mean? A healthy fear of those in authority is important. Even as adults. Fear can keep us safe and in line. Actions have consequences. Case in point we tried to hold playing time over the heads of some starters for a major screw up. We got told by the super we can't do that. So what's left to do?
I also have a bit of a problem sometimes asking a teenager to evaluate an adult in a position of authority over them. Most teens cannot see past the end of their nose most of the time. Their brains are not developed enough yet. I loved my high school coaches but there were days I hated them.
