Too much of a good thing, even football, is still too much.
Too many NFL teams in the league, too many (9-7, even 8-8) in the playoffs.
Too many D-I bowl games, too many mediocre teams in bowls.
Too many HS teams in playoffs, too many teams getting in leagues and/or scheduling games just to try to qualify. And some schools having to join leagues geographically where they can't compete just to have a schedule.
Thus, too many mismatches and blowouts, even in "state playoffs" that lead to something like Connecticut enacting a "score management" policy.
Too much pressure on HS coaches to make the playoffs, leading to too many good men getting fired, and too much turnover in our profession.
Too much influence of $$ in NFL and college, too much influence of pro and college football filtering down to HS football.

School board members are notorious for low sperm counts and bad athletic genes.
