Don't think I have been more proud of a team and win than last night. Big playoff win 28-6. They scored on our second team late in the game. Had a freshman in his first year ever playing replace our 1000 yard rushing HB who broke his ankle getting rolled up on this Tuesday. This is in addition to starting a 10th grade lineman at FB who was replacing the best back in the league who got hurt in the third game. The freshman had 156 yards on 12 carries. Defense and o line played lights out. Game was super physical. We run the wing t and threw it ZERO times. The other team was spread and running qb, reverses, screens, passing game, etc. Actually pretty good at it, but we could not have been more of a contrast of wing t and wide open. I want to give a shout to CoachHuey board, because it contributed to this win, The team ran a 3-3 and had a great game plan. LB's read guards. We were able to use Hudl Sideline Replay to figure out their reads along with talking with the kids. Came out in the second half and ran gut (pulled both guards) instead of trap, and ran power sweep (pulled one guard and the other down blocked) instead of buck sweep to dismantle them and extend a 7-0 lead to 21-0 in about 4 minutes. These two adjustments made the fb up the middle look like sweep and made sweep look like FB trap to the LB's. Just having constant conversations on CoachHuey about defense, LB reads, Wing T, etc. contributed to helping me to know exactly what to do. There is more to this, but CoachHuey has made me a better coach first by learning things and two solidifying what I already knew. Here are some highlights. And yes I know that I am fortunate and most of y'all would kill to have a freshman rb like mine and a sophomore lineman that can run the ball like I do. www.hudl.com/team/v2/14720/boys-varsity-football

We play the back to back state champions Friday at home in semi-finals. We beat them earlier 42-21 after being down 21-7. But they have two players back since then and we of course have injuries. But I am pumped about the game!
One more thing, I love throwing the ball. Just happened that we didn’t need to throw. I wanted to point out that even in this day and age, the wing t still works and you can not throw and win. And this is coming from a coach who has thrown the ball 42 times with 28 completions before in a playoff game.

We won our second round playoff game last night 28-0, without attempting a single pass. We are a multiple team (many guys on the board are familiar with what we do) but spend a lot of time in shotgun 10 personnel. Anyway, last night we played in a mud bowl. Got under center and ran 21 and 22 personnel all night, didn't attempt a single pass. Just ran a bunch of powers and counters at them.

We had a crazy game yesterday against our league's top team, state champs 3 years running, etc. We traded TD's all game long. They are a hurry up Spread team, their QB was last week's Max Preps/USA Football's player of the week. Their passing game vs. our SW run game. Our top back has 1750 yards rushing this season. We ending up losing 46-42 in the last minute. We ran for 500 yards and only attempted 2 passes. Ran 66 times. Probably the most exciting game I've ever been apart of.

Congratulations on the win. Great video, but one thing is bothering me/must know. Why is the midfield logo not in the middle of the field?

Congratulations on the win. Great video, but one thing is bothering me/must know. Why is the midfield logo not in the middle of the field? LOL. Me too. The field looks nice to decent from the stands. Just about dirt in the middle and some other places. When it rains, it is mud. Our first home game almost got moved it was so bad, so our paint guy put the logo on grass so it would stay.

This sounded a lot like us, except we have been fortunate to be relatively healthy. Ours was supposed to be the game of the year (us #1, them #2 before they lost the week before) and we smoked them 62-16. Threw the ball once. We are Wing-T, they were a spread throw it all over the yard type of team and we harassed their QB. Wishing everyone a healthy and successful end to the season.
