This is one of those, 'I don't know where to put this' type threads- so I will start it off here.
Rematching a team this week, and reviewing with my TE's and Wings as to why they had such difficulty getting off the line against them last time. According to my players the opposing DEs would jab them in the gut as they went upfield; but what is weird is how they did it.
They wouldn't ball their fists rather have them flat and firm in a karate chop position (with palms facing in like they were pretending to be a robot). Still they would not chop, instead jab forward- keeping their hand firm- and strike my players in the gut leading with their middle and ring finger; in a somewhat credit card swipe attack (knocking their air out at times).
This was a new one to me, never seen it or heard of it before. Am wondering if anyone else has come across this, taught this, etc? Also, what would you even call this technique (my best idea is the subject line)?

Essentially, they just jammed their hands into their gut?
I mean, you can't punch somebody. But, can you forcefully poke someone?
Sorry this happened, but I am thankful that this is one of the best thread titles I can think of. I wish I was a karate robot.

Oh no need to be sorry, this just allowed me to reinforce proper alignment with my wings. And yes the thread title was a bonus. Still, they did this multiple times so it has to be something they are teaching, right?

It seems to be clearly something that is taught.
But, I don't understand why that way. Maybe I just have sad, weak fingers, but I just assume you're going to get them broken that way.

This might be the key. What does the film show? Also, if he can jab you with his finger (what the hell I am I saying right now LOL), then I would think he could jam you and grab you with his hands. Be a better receiver and don't let their hands (finger - what? ??) get on your body. Use some technique.

This has potential to be the greatest thread ever.

Film was sideline level and not good, but I am going to review.

I for sure thought this was a spam thread or fake news, but clearly this is neither.

Just sounds like cheap crap to me and there isn't much you can do about it now..
When I was a senior in high school we played a team whose OL would pass set, grab my breast plate as I bull rushed them and fall backwards with their knee between my legs. It looked like I was bulldozing them from my NT position but I was actually getting a vasectomy every other down. We told the officials about it but the only thing they called was holding. Needless to say, my pass rush slowed down considerably.

I for sure thought this was a spam thread or fake news, but clearly this is neither. Haven't you heard? It's 2017 and everything is fake news. I just assumed it was the DNC working through Russia spamming us to hack our credit card data and control the minds of the sheeple, and then set up some sort of violent robot attack using karate. Relieved it isn't!!! Pheeeeew that was close. Stay woke people and Carry on!

I hate to bump this thread back to the top, but, I feel it is a good items to share concerning robot karate.
It won't end well if, while your wife is doing yoga, you jab her in a buttcheek and shout "ROBOT KARATE."
I like you guys. Learn from my mistakes.
