If you can't beat em, join em.
Oregon and AP State embarrased them, so we might as well join them.
As a Big 10 fan, I think it's cool!

Thw question is what will West Virginia run in the future. I really hope the OC will beable to step in and take over so the offense will stay the same.

"Add Michigan to my list," says Terrelle Pryor, #1 recruit in the country!
It has been mentioned before, but what do you do with 6-6 247 QB Ryan Mallett?

Do you think he will bring the 30 Stack with him along with the spread?

Mallet transfers. Michigan runs the spread just as WV has, but the defense stays 4-3. At Michigan they can recruit dlinemen to fill in a more traditional defense.
I'm sad for WVU, but like someone already said, guess I have to like UofM now.

Move Mallet to TE and use him as a H-Back like WVU did Owen Schmidt

Gotta keep mallet at QB, you don't move the number 1 QB prospect in the nation to a different position. Adjust your scheme a bit to fit your players. Pat white runs as much because hes pat white. Rodriguez can coach, he'll adjust and fit his scheme to the talent of his QB.

But if Terrelle Pryor (this year's #1 QB prospect, and he *can* run the ball) comes in, that changes the whole situation.

Back at Glenville St they had QB's over 500 yards something like five or six times. Threw it around 40-60 times in their no-huddle.

Michigan State runs the spread as well. Not anymore since Dantonio took over last year.

Penn State spreads it out formation-wise typically with 3 WR, 1 TE and 1 RB, and a lot of shotgun, but they don't really run "spread" in the same sense as these other programs since Michael Robinson left. Morelli has almost no mobility.

1. Coach Rod is a good football coach with LOTS of experience with offense. I doubt he moves Mallet to another position or forces him to run 30 Zone Read Options a game. Assuming Mallet doesn't transfer, Rod will use the talent he has. Honestly, let's say he chooses not to use Mallet at QB for some reason; WHO CARES. His gun option is one of the most productive offenses in college football.
2. Rod didn't have a hard time getting top-line talent at WVa, he'll be just fine at Michigan. In fact, a lot of the kids he's been courting at WVa are going to have a shot at Big 10 football next year.
3. Now, he'll be able to draw in some of those top defensive recruits. Imagine his offense with a Top 10 defense keeping people off of the field.

Hope Rod does bring the stack with him.....put some more speed on the field. Maybe they will quit getting beat by speed and formation with all of those "traditional " type defensive guys.
GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!

His gun option is one of the most productive offenses in college football. Give me Pat White, Steve Slaton, and Noel Devine! I bet I could look like a genius too! His record previous to having them was something like 28-21. So I would argue his Spread was only as effective as his personnel. Look at Northwestern.... Or even Purdue... How are they doing against Ohio State and Wisconsin teams that run the football more effectively in the Big 10.

Northwestern and Purdue do not have the ability to pull the same type of talent as Michigan does. Those schools have to run the spread to try and compete with the top teams in the Big 10. Illinois had some success with the Spread this season. I think this will be an interesting mix in the Big 10. Going to be interesting to see it develop.

Terry Bowden is the 'front-runner' for the WVU replacement.......................
does Devine transfer if that is the case?

The Bowdens and Rodriguez are quite close, from my understanding. And didn't Terry play at WVU as a walk-on?
