Hello Coaches,
I hope everyone’s seasons are going well.
On game day our team has a group of players that gather before our walkthroughs and have “chapel”. It’s a chance for them to talk a little bit about their faith, God, sportsmanship etc.
I am honored that the kids asked me to speak at it this week. I’ll have about 15-20 min to talk with them. I asked what they want me to talk about and they said “God”......I figured that was fairly obvious.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Pick a theme that correlates with the lessons you try to instill through football already andnstay on point.
Im at a Christian school now and have a 10 minute devotional every practice; when i first started i would try to make a million good points or hit on many themes each individual time.
Now i realized that having one clear point, with the support of a good verse, is better.

Assuming you are, can you find a Bible passage that has some theme you can tie back to football? For example, overcoming great odds, the strong vs. the weak, the few standing against the many, unity, love, commitment...Etc, etc. Or maybe talk about your personal relationship with God... For example, why you are a Christian, what faith means to you, etc, etc.

Basically the are wanting you to share like 19delta mentioned. Think of as simply an opportunity to meet with players on another platform or another level. I've found that the most impactful thing you share is to talk about something going on with yourself instead of trying to tailor a message to the individuals of the group. They asked YOU to come talk (about YOU) to them. I'm not saying bear your soul if that is uncomfortable, but just: this is who I am this is my faith/testamony this is what I struggle with this is where I gain strength/rely on

That's nice...but IMO 15-20 minutes is way too long. Maybe one short topic, make a quick point on something significant in your own life, then let the lesson sink in. Back it up with a reading.
Sometimes quicker is better.
At least, that's what I used to tell my new bride...

Thanks guys. This will give me a great start. I’ve got a theme I can stick with, a bible verse and I can tie it into my relationship with God. Thank you. chi5hi I tell her it’s about efficiency....time on task! Lol
