For those of you coaches that have packed up and moved out of state for a new job, what are some things to consider? I'm currently living and coaching in the state of Tennessee, but I have an interesting coaching opportunity in Florida. Obviously the cost of living difference between the two states, but what would be some other considerations from your personal experiences would you offer?

Just make sure you can pay your bills, and savor the experience! I packed up and drove from CA to FL with $2k in my pocket and not much else. That was 11 years ago. I had some lean times, but I wasnt any worse off than in CA, and now I lived on the beach. Where in FL?

send your transcripts now and see if everything will match up with the teaching cert, also see what tests you will have to take, most of mine matched up, but I had to take a couple of college classes because I didn't have enough in a couple of areas that I taught in the state I went to, plus I had to take the praxis, this was a long time ago,

I have moved from Indiana to NC back to Indiana to Florida to just this summer South Carolina.
Some of the things to consider, especially moving to Florida.
1. Check your retirement rules. In NC you had to be in the system for five years to be vested and ten years in Indiana. I left NC after 2 and Indiana after 7 so I wasn’t vested but I could put my contributions in new accounts when I moved. In Florida it’s seven years to be vested but if you leave the system before five years you forfeit your investment if you are gone for more than two years.
2. The license plates, at least the first time you get them, are a huge out of pocket expense. And car insurance was 2.5 times higher in FL.
3. We lived on the beach in Cocoa Beach and rent probably 25-30% more than here in SC but the absence of income tax will cover most of that.
4. Moving trucks are significantly more going south than north.
5. Be ready for all of the various deposits as an expense (rental, electric, water...)
6. Being able to enjoy the sun every day is worth more than I expected so a lot of those costs didn’t bother me.
I love moving and being part of a new community and area. It’s been a good life experience for our family. And with technology today it’s easy to keep up with all the people you meet.
Good luck!

No personal experience here but for starters, you've got hurricanes to contemplate about
