Looking for some input on what is best to feed players the day of a game. We are setting up menus this week with a local establishment to feed our players on Fridays after school. Carbs, Proteins, fruits, veggies? What is best?

Well... i know this might not go over well.... but we just fed them whatever establishment would feed them for free...
For a long time it was McDonalds.... now it is a local pizza place.
We don't have them eat much before the games anyway, but what they eat is usually donated so we aren't picky.

We usually had grilled chicken, salad, green beans, small desert, and water/powerade.

We have grilled chicken, a pasta, a veggie, and a gatorade.
Otherwise, they would all go to BK across the street..(and some others)

We have pizza and/or burgers. We found out that if we change their eating routines or patterns, they will not feel comfortable during the game. Some times they will feel too bloated or sluggish. Try to feed them at least 4 hours before kick-off. This will give them enough time to digest their food. Hope this helps.

We have the moms of our program prepare a pasta dinner before every game-roughly 3 1/2 hours prior to the game. The kids love it, the moms love the idea of doing "something" for the program.

when we played on Saturday we had pancakes, eggs, hamm and bagels for breakfast about 3 1/2 hours before kickoff. When we played on friday nights we would have some sort of meat (chicken or turkey), pasta, salad, fruit and gatorade

complex carbs (pasta, pancakes), proteins (grilled chicken), and some electrolytes like gatorade. Stay away from anything greasy

We play on Friday nites and Saturdays. On Friday a local pizza place donated pizza's we eat about 4 hours before the game. On Saturdays our team mom's cook breakfast. Lots of fruits and stuff like that....Last year one of our moms made biscuits and gravy, the kids loved it...until game time. We lost, half my team couldn't play in the second half because they were sick to their stomach....no more biscuits and gravy!! hehehehe...

Interesting topic. I advise my kids to eat 55% - 60% Carbs / 20 % - 25 % Protein (lean meat / fish) and 20 % good fats (fat from meat / saladdressing based on olive oil/cheese/milk/butter).
I would not eat Poultry or Rice before a game (the night before is OK) because they contain stuff that makes you sleepy !!!
Used to organize big conferences and poultry and rice were nono'son the menu !!!
