I like that they are cracking down, personally. This state is pretty stringent when it comes to moving: you are ineligible for 90 school days if you move. You can file for a "hardship" in certain circumstances but you'll be lucky to get it unless you can prove extenuating circumstances.

Oregon is open enrollment within your district, transfer schools, no questions asked.
Out of district transfers really aren't questioned either.
On that note, we don't exactly have the abundance of 4 star blue chippers to deal with like other "high school football states" do.

We have 365 rule. Can try for hardship, but it's not happening.

At school A and he moves to school B he cannot play at school B for 365 days. A move before season starts is OK to play, but there has to be a genuine move. Not I love with grandma now.

In MO If the school they are transferring from protest and the family can prove it is not for athletic reasons then the kid can play. Moving in season I'm not sure of? I don't think they can play the sport if they transfer mid season, but then could play the following sport season. So move in during football they cant play, but then they could play basketball the same year.

CIF San Diego section just approved transfer for athletic reasons. Athletes must sit a set number of days still, 60 days I think.

It's a big problem here in GA. One school this year had I think 5 D1 guys move to the same school so they could win a championship and one went back after the season if I have my facts right. They are trying to pass a rule that says if you can't prove it's for non athletic reasons you have to sit half the season. The problem we have here with the GHSA is that they don't consistently apply the rules already in place. The big time places seem to get a pass while they will not approve the eligibility of other kids at smaller schools.
Two years ago a big time DT at one school we played transferred to a school in Alabama. A few weeks later he wanted to come back. They had an article in the paper quoting him on why he was coming back and it was because he didn't like it there. Two days later he was approved. The same time frame we have a kid who is legitimately living on his own. 19 years old, works after practice and is assisted by a church with living expenses. GHSA says no way and the no took about 4 weeks to get even an answer. It's crap.

chiiiiittt.....in FL, starting June 1st, kids can move any where, at any time, for any reason, and be immediately eligible for ALL extra-curricular activities, provided the school has room for them. There are stricter penalties for prior contact, but precedence has shown that the FHSAA really has no power or authority. Things are about to get C.R.A.Z.Y!!!!!

I don't like it, but I don't see it changing anytime soon. We've had kids who moved from living with mom who was in one school zone to living with dad in another school zone (both in the same district) have to sit a year.

And those moves from mom to dad took place during spring and summer. Way before season, and still had to sit.

When you have kids coming on Twitter to announce where they will be playing their senior year of high school, like they are announcing their college choice, there is a huge problem. I liked the 50% rule, but I didn't like the fact there is an appeal process. That was my only drawback to it. If you have the appeal process, it would be no different than it is right now.
