hypothetically, if all these coaches on this board, would, let's say get together.....for some chalk talk.
Approxiamately how much Beer & Pizza would be consumed?

Well lets see.... 18 pack/coach x 3000= Riot, looting, arguments of the DW, possible fist fights, just plain ol fun.

As an OL coach at heart, the big fellas would need a 30 pack each.

Any of you that have attended the AFCA conventions remember the "Good ol' Days" when the Coaches Social featured complimentary beer and snacks? I still remember the social in the New Orleans Superdome with the catered food and endless beer. Now that was a coaching clinic.

honestly, i would love to be able to host some type of "x's & o's board" get together at some point within the next year. logistics may not make this possible (or $$, lol) but it is something i think would be a great idea. whether it be more along the lines of a clinic of simply a "party" would be fine by me.

that was kinda my point. Without w-oring ourselves out, it would be nice to get some folks together, without "franchising" ourselves based on REGION (lots of folks in Texas, Illinois / Wisconsin).....to shoot ideas around and support one another.
Logistics would be an interesting concept, but we ain't trying to make money or promote ourselves - just a thought.

At the AFCA conventions you can reserve a room for a social. Lots of colleges do that. Maybe we should reserve for board members.

I would definitely "Contribute" to that project. It would certainly be more entertaining and informative than the current high school meeting held on Sunday.

Approxiamately how much Beer & Pizza would be consumed? yknow brophy, huey, this is a great idea. the boards where guys have had coaching symposiums have been pretty amazing for the most part. lots of friendships ,connections and materials being traded freely etc...you might want to talk to Todd Bross on the single wing forum and ask him about how he has build the "single wing coaches conclave" from just a dozen guys its first year to a big gathering all at super affordable rates at a first rate facility (Kings College in Wilkes Barre Pa)...and of course Jack Gregory has done a bang up job with the dw coaches symposium...hes had the thing filmed and sold dvd copies of it...can you imagine the value of the dvd set obtained from a weekend of "The very best of Xs and Os symposium" ...that would be able to fund this board nicely.

You can count me in! Beer and Football....well, it just doesn't get a lot better than that. If the board moderators can figure out a way to make it happen, I'd figure out a way to get there. Coming from PA. maybe coachcalande and I could ride/fly together. Betcha I'd be a DW expert by the time the flight landed or the car got parked. ;-)

we WILL have some type of get-together in 2007 ... that is a given. would like to have it in an "informally formal" manner -- like a general topic with a presenter (or panel) much like a breakout session rather than just a clinic. say, tog on the jet sweep. tog gives some basic info on his stuff and people asking questions, drawing up stuff, etc. basically a big "cuss & discuss" session over a particular topic. go through that topic a while with tog leading then change to a new topic and new "faciliator". keep it very casual much like a coaches' office talk rather than a straight-forward clinic presentation. figure by having some set "topics" we will all get something out of it rather than just bouncing around from idea to idea.
whatever we go with, the input from our members will be used to set it up.

When you say get together I assume you're referring to the AFCA convention in San Antonio? If everyone were to kick in $20 that would pay for the room and the pizza, wings, malt & barley beverages, etc.
