Do you guys have your coaches there in summer? We go mornings and only half staff are teachers which fits am practice.
Is it more important to go off kids schedule or coaches convenient?

What do you mean by "practice in summer"?
June and July, or when practice officially begins in August?

As HC I was not allowed to require assistants be at any Football activities outside of the contract season (August-October) that they were paid for.
Secondly, we could not "practice" in June or July. We could have four players work with one coach at a time, seven days of competition (7-on-7 for ex.), and up to ten days of camp.
Personally I preferred having Summer Football activities in the morning. Sometimes this made it difficult for assistants who weren't teachers or those who were but had Summer jobs or were taking classes to be there.
However most of them made the effort to be at workouts and camp whenever possible (I paid them for working camps).

We are expected to be at all workouts. At the start of the summer, we sit down as a staff and set up a calendar or who is not available on certain dates. Our HC has no problem with any of us missing summer workouts because we are on vacation or unexpected issues. All he asks is that we communicate if we are not able to be there. We have a couple of guys who work, so they come to the workout when they can. We run a camp in July, and all of us are there.

We aren't expected to be at anything until conditioning/camp the 2 weeks before official practice. The HC mans the weight room alone for the most part, although I have volunteered to help him.
I do workouts with my JV team (pass game/coverage install) and am usually all by myself for that as well.

What are you doing during these "practices"? Our summer work outs are 3 nights a week in July and we are able to run them just like a real practice except no contact as defined by our state association. Helmets and shoulder pads are allowed with contact vs bags. So guys treat it just like in season, we all miss during this time since it is summer, and go at night to allow for the best participation by all.

We go early mornings in the summer. Lift and then field work.
Coaches are expected to make it if they can. If they can't, no big deal. The HC, me (JV HC), and frosh HC get paid to be there. Most of our assistants don't.

We practice during the summer. It's basically when we install our offense and defense.
We have kids in summer school and about half of our coaches are not teachers, so we practice in the afternoon.
