We are attempting to move to a 2 platoon system next year. A few quick questions for those of you who are old pros at this.
1. Do you have a short session once per week where you do an 1's vs. 1's, your offensive system vs. your defensive system, competitive game situation type drill? If so, what rules, etc. do you use? What day to you do it? (We play on Friday)
2. When running team, do you run your 1's vs. 1's (example offensive day=your offense running your stuff, your 1st D running the scout defense) or do you run a full scout team vs. 1's? Or is it sometimes one, sometimes the other?
3. Would anyone be willing to share a few practice plans? I love the way we practice and have an idea of how I want to adapt it, but would love to see what other programs do who have more experience running a 2 platoon system.
Thank you for your time.

All practices begin with Indy.
We run 1st offense Vs. scout defense on Monday followed by ST for end of practice.
Scout offense Vs. 1st defense on Tuesday followed by ST at end of practice.
3rd down offense and defense on Wednesday followed by goal line O & D. Finish with 4MO and TMO.
Thursday is ST only while JV plays.

Monday is install, walk-thru, we often dont even get the 2 sides together.
Tue/Wed: indy, inside run, group, etc.. then team. Both offense groups run scout, alternating plays. Since reading cards can take a while, this is how we keep the tempo up. When we go 1st O, the defense usually rotates every 5-8 plays, 1st & 2nd defenses alternating

The only time we go 1v1 in team with both running our own stuff is spring and summer. In season the only 1v1 we do is in a drill period.

We work together as one big unit in the off-season, but once the season starts, we are essentially 2 different programs. We run the same schemes with the same terminology, but we do everything separate.

Depends on the time of year. Early in the year we come together 1's v 1's team but light contact. Most of the time we'll get 1's vs 1's in drill setting, 7 on 7, Blitz Pick up, 1v1 pass rush, 1v1 WR/DB, open field tackle, and inside (if defensive scheme matches up). JV goes through indy and then is the scout team for the most part.
