Speaking of Tim Murphy (CA DW coach) - if you've seen him in the past, anything major that's new? He didn't come to Boston...

Tampa Glazier notes-
- Steve Reynolds (HC from Oakleaf, FL) had good stuff on coverages. Best part though was his practice organization and drills though. - Alonso Escalante (NY Giants assistant) did long snapping stuff. It was absolutely legit. Very good. Intensely detailed. I learned so much in such a short period of time. Awesome. Most i've ever gotten from an NFL guy probably. - Roger Holmes (HC from Dublin, GA) was an old school wing-t guy. Im not wing-t at all but I loved it and got a lot. Very entertaining and engaging speaker.
And then Larry Coffey (Homestead, FL) was terrible. I walked out in about 8 minutes with some others. Nothing really prepared. Had an old school projector that he put to the side and instead used a dvd player to show a highlight film of a couple of plays. No remote or anything it just ran all the way through as he told stories about the players on each team. Got through the clips relating to the subject talk(jet sweep and compliments) and then it just went to a couple of random draws and other runs without any kind of motions. I was pissed. Walked out though and finished in a real good session.

Actually he did not show a lot of film, but what he did show had a mix of Clairton and his new gig. I figured it would be all clairton as well. A great example of Jimmies and Joes being a lot more important than X and O's. Hell he might be the poster child for that. thats actually a misconception i feel. he builds those kids. its his S&C program. Clovis East wasnt loaded with talent his first years, it was a new school in a very competitive small area. he built that.

Clariton is in west PA and is a school in the smallest class loaded with D1 kids. I have seen them several times. It ain't the SC program, it's genetic mismatches! This coach went from OC there scoring 1000+ points to being a HC and scoring less than 80 points the whole season!

I was at Glazier outside DC this past weekend. Pat Fox was entertaining and Coach Holliday from Utah did a good job.

I have not seen Murphy in 2 maybe 3 years so here are a few things that were new to me. He showed some of the pistol stuff. On the backside he is pulling guard/tackle or guard/tight end depending on the tackle being covered or uncovered. When I last saw him he was only pulling tackle/tight end. He talked about on his fullback trap that it is a tackle trap. He also has a tackle trap that traps a 0. That is all I can think of off the to of my head.

Was at clinic in Vegas...sitting in on a session and with about 30 minutes left in a 90 minute session the speaker stops. He says I know that there is 30 more minutes left in this session but I am all out of {censored}...so we're done...

Went to hear Murphy at the National wing-T clinic but he was not there !!!! Listened to Coach Eliot from Washington- I thought he was a defensive guy-was really impressed with his Jet/Fly sweep offensive system.

Sorry for the double post but one thing I would like to add on I just got in my email is Coach Mickey Conn's presentation on "Building a HS Football Program". This was an excellent talk and in my opinion the best one of the clinic. drive.google.com/open?id=0Bz5AQYsSJNUwZWd2c1ZOenZvWE0

I think this clinic talk was the best one given at the Clemson clinic.

Dub Maddox - the GOAT No Speaker has ever made me feel so bad that everything i have been doing is wrong and there is a better, simpler way to do it What things stood out the most that you have simplified since then?

Love the forensic investigator analogy, makes a lot of sense to me too. If you don't mind elaborating on it the one thing I think jumps off the page at me is the "building in answers to your playcall sheet"

IMO what Dub and darrin have done. They have created a SYSTEM with a COMMON language that is taught the SAME way. They have ANSWERS within the SYSTEM. ....do they know more football than you or me..no not really BUT they are better TEACHERS than you or me...make no mistake, Jenks has very good qb's that are very well COACHED... its very much like triple option guru's..if this..then that. again IMO, many OC's don't have answers to what they see, they just run a different play..really NO rhyme or reason. I always like to say that there is NOTHING worse than a know it all that is sometimes right. The WORST I mean THE WORST guys are the OC's that think they are smart but really just have better players like the jacka$$ I saw telling me his qb just outruns the LB they don't bother to block. IMO, the R4 is well worth the $ ONLY if you do what they say..you just can't pick and choose. the great thing is they aren't "selling" you plays..they are selling you the "PROCESS"
