Saw Saban this weekend at a Nike clinic. Wasn't expecting to learn any X and O's from him but... He was great and horrible all with in an hour and a half. His program leadership stuff was great totally worth it. Then for some reason he decided to talk coverage for 20 mins. Pretty sure he went over ever coverage they run in that time. Put up a slide, show two clips, "See it's easy", next slide, two clips, "See it's easy" over and over. Felt bad for the guys sitting in the front row as he kept asking them You got that? You understand? they were just shaking their heads scared to death to say no LOL Probably wanted to see if anybody had the stones to ask him what the hell he was talking about! Saw Pruitt in ATL this weekend. He did an excellent job explaining some their nuances of Rip/Liz and Cover 7. You could tell he had a HS background. Study them a lot being in state but Pruitt connected it better than Smart did in similar presentations in the past. I think they assume you are versed in their terminology etc.

Phil Longo (OC @ Ole Miss that was just hired from Sam Houston) was legit tho. Did a great job being super real with everything. Kept stressing simlify, simplify, simplify. And was real good in talking about technique and little coaching points. Looking forward to Tampa Glazier this wknd. Coach, what did Coach Logo talk about?

Glazier Clinic Seattle
Greg Vandagriff- He is a entertaining talker and gets right to his topic. Clear and concise went over how they teach what they do, coaching points he has learned to help you with those drills and was willing to stay and talk to anybody that had questions
Aaron Best- EWU HC/ Oline- Good speaker gets into the meat of his topic, His drills and teaching pieces are applicable for HS coaches
All Sports Northwest
Randy Jackson- Just an overall good guy and speaker. His talks on culture just gets your mind going on what you can incorporate in your own program
Kody Groves- Good talk on culture and how they run their version of the 3-4
Drew Sanders- Great talk on the coverage that they run and how they teach it

So on the HB slip screen its just the C and PSG. Instead of counting seconds for release of the OL he had them set and punch and then release as their timing mechanism. Says everyone counts differently and it screws things up. Definitely stealing that.

Dub Maddox - the GOAT No Speaker has ever made me feel so bad that everything i have been doing is wrong and there is a better, simpler way to do it I did see Dub in SF and he was very good. I really like how he is breaking down the oppoenent. I do have a BIG BUG on what is going on at the Glazier Clinics and that is: "hey here is a quick sample of what I am doing and for another $600 I'll tell you more," or "hey come buy my DVD's and other material." First of all, as a football program we have already invested some $500 for access to the clinics, then as teachers, or other workers, we used our bank of leave time to go, many of us also paid our own way for travel, meals, hotels costs, etc. Secondly, and more importantly, the idea of coaching clinics has always been to share knowledge based in the concept of "someone has shared with me, so it is my turn to give back and share what I have learned from others." Not hey lets see how much I can make with this deal.... I told my coaches that I think this is our last year of Glazier because I am getting disgusted with the money grubbing. Am I the only one?

Just got back from the Glazier Flexbome clinic in North Jersey. The head coach, Tom Bolden, was great. He did 6 straight sessions on his flexbone offense and 2 more on his 50 front defense. I have never seen a guy be so open at a clinic. He's a great speaker, and was very detail oriented. I would definitely see him again. Coach Bolden is a quality presenter...the best part is that he admits he has been blessed / lucky to develop some "dudes" that have played for him & has led to their success!

He aligns his h back almost like a wing position. RB is to aim for the a gap inside the dbl team if the 3 technique.

Galzier Denver Clinic
Hunter Wood was one of the best I have heard as well. Apopka High Strength and Conditioning coach. If you do not know who this guy is I recommend visiting his website. Also, Head Coach Darlington from Apopka is awesome. Heard him in Phoenix last year.

Saw all Shawn Liotta's sessions in Phoenix. He was great, lots of great info, fun and engaging to listen too, stayed after to answer additional questions and chit chat a bit. He got right into the topics, didn't spend 20 minutes going through stats. He actually talked about how they do things. He talked about their practice structure, run game, installing the no huddle, how they call their plays, etc. He might of been more open because he was so far from home, but he was very candid with everything. I'm sure it was clips of all his Clariton tape. All sub 4.5 studs. Not much of where he is now i'm guessing

Jerry Campbell has made a career of speaking at clinics. Has playbooks for every scheme. Kinda shady to me... The guy knows his stuff. Also the nicest guy in the coaching world. Nothing shady about it.

Same here. My DC played on the 09 Bama team so had some interesting insight to their ways. Ive always been able to keep up with almost any speakers no matter what level they coached but until I got more in tune with the Saban terminology almost found it impossible to stay with them at clinics.

Just got back from the Glazier clinic in Tampa and it seemed to me that it was much smaller attended than normal.
Coach Mac did a great presentation of his system, as usual, he's often a poster here. Has great Youtube vids up if you've never seen them, you need to. He's kinda' hyper, so he just flies through stuff, but he's really smart so your mind doesn't wander, you stay focused or you'll lose him. I've known him for years, humble guy and very honest.
One thing he said was that there are a lot of guys doing clinics who just have "the dudes" and since win/loss or state championships is how coaches are picked to do clinics, sometimes you watch 1/2 an hour of 4 verts. Yep, been there. Coach Mac also said that sometimes when you are 3-7 you might have been the best coach out there because you should have gone 1-9 with the talent you had. Very straight talking guy. Coach Mac's full name is Coach Thomas MacPherson from Orange Park. Good guy.
Something that came up a lot the last couple of days is how recruiting and transfers in Florida has REALLY changed the game. There are teams that have 20 new starters from the year before because of our transfer rules.
Caught a couple of other guys too.
Didn't seem like they had a "big name" guy this year, but that might just be me, might be why it looked like a whole lot less people than normal. Used to be hard to find a parking spot, not this year.
Also spent 3 hours with Coach hours with Paul Golla, out of Bakersfield HS California. I've got his DVDs, so I went to the clinic to see him specifically. He had a ton of stuff to get through and went really fast. A couple of friends I knew who didn't know the bases of coach Golla's system were lost, his Pistol offense isn't really a "pistol" offense it's a form of Veer, but that's why I went, to see that. They ran the pistol zone offense, but not Veer, so they were lost most of the time. But he also went fast, but that's just the nature of coaching clinics now. Everybody has lots stuff they want to get through and they go really fast. But I thought he did a great job and I picked up several things I'm going to try. His weightlifting system was good also. Nice guy too, spent some time with me after his sessions.

Spent the weekend at Glazier in Pittsburgh, listen to two different O-line guys, Dave Johnson from Ohio University. He was awesome, his presentation was loaded full of info and kept to a level that I can use with high schoolers. Showed clips but not many actually about 10, total but they were there to show technique. I also watch Jim McNally, the info was good but it was given in the first 10 minutes then showed clips of all pro linmen using his techniques and kept saying I don't know if you could use this with high school kids.

I saw the same 2 guys. Coach Johnson was great. He broke down to a level that anyone could understand. Jim McNally was entertaining, but all 5 sessions were the same. All Technique, but no drills. I got the basic concepts from him, but know way to implement it. I believe blocking is eventually going to this at all levels. It would of been nice to see how you teach it. Rick Darlington form Apopka, FL was outstanding. I only stepped in for his Goal line D and Offseason session. I took 3-4 things we will implement this offseason. Bruce Lombard - MMAFX and Anthony Zettel (Penn St. & Detroit Lions DL) were good, too. Zettel was out late on Friday with a couple of former teammates and was a little "under the weather" but they showed the entirety of their hand fighting system. I liked it but it was basically a commercial for their video. Overall Pittsburgh Glazier seemed to not have much variety in topics. A Lot of 3-3 or 4-3 defense. It might have been me as I was only there to see McNally and Johnson for sure and find something to strike my fancy after that. I left Saturday after the sessions. Washington & Jefferson DC was there late Saturday & Sunday for 425 stuff, but I've seen him before and we don't do the anything they do.

Mark McElroy from Saddleback CA was great on fly sweep. Wish I could get film from him on it, loved his unbalanced stuff.
Jed Kennedy Brookfield Central WI on his program building was excellent. A lot of great ideas on how to get buy in from not only kids but community.
I didn't go to any that were awful-- I have gotten a lot better through the years of weeding out the ones that don't relate to my talent level, scheme and what not.
Worst thing is the speaker who doesn't talk on their topic at all.

I'm fine with guys selling their stuff at Glazier. I think Glazier has the best line up each year for the best price. For $450, I can bring 10 coaches to a 2 day clinic... that is a pretty good deal in my opinion. Plus all of the online content. I think its a good deal.
