TSSAA expects a 1-9 team to take a 300 mile round trip bus ride to play the No. 2 team in the state? Then they ban the basketball team from the playoffs as punishment for the forfeit? Yep. That's it in a nutshell. My understanding is the rules would have allowed them to ban all sports, including girls sports, from the postseason for a year, but instead they have only banned boys' basketball at this time. The school's appealing. Evidently, the 1-9 school, which almost had to cancel their season every week since July due to low participation, was supposed to find a way to round up the minimum number of 13 kids and a coach to play the game even after the whole team quit because the TSSAA wants their playoff money at all costs. The coaches and administration didn't choose to forfeit. The players quit and left them with no team to play.
