Have any of you ever used the weighted training balls? If so, what is the verdict on them?

What will use them for? If you are looking at them for QB's to throw it can do more harm with their mechanics then good in terms of improving their arm strength.

I like to use the weighted balls for the WR to catch with, it makes their hands stronger and tougher.
The only problem is the players/coaches that have to throw them.

Well, I researched this topic after posting and found that some weighted balls come in sizes up to 3lbs. I was a the sporting good store today picking up some GSTs and they had a 20oz weighted by Wilson TDS. It was just heavy enough to know that it was heavier than it should be. But it felt good. I could see throwing this over and over again and it actually helping. Kind of like using a weight on the end of a bat. But I really couldnt see why you would want any of those 2 or 3 pound balls. These came in 18, 20, and 22 oz

I use them for my center to practice his snaps, the RB to carry during drills, and for my QB to practice his toss and pitch. Has worked well for us with IMO no negatives.

Yes - we use them for our WR's and RB's for strength, but not for our QB's. Definitely messes up their technique.

I have used them with centers, longsnappers, and RBs in ball carrying drills. I don't know that they helped a whole lot, but I do remember one of my long snappers saying he thought it helped him. So I guess the jury is still out.

We use them with ball drills involving short movements for every position especially in run polish. If you use them with your QB's in a throwing motion, do it at a slowed speed to mimic/strengthen the mechanic. It is not even necessary to release the ball. Once you speed things up, the load could cause the mechanics to deviate from normal as others have alluded to. I would be very careful about doing any throwing with a heavy ball and then trying to rip with a regular ball (coach or player).
Think of it not unlike weightlifting. Sets, reps, controlled movement.

I think I am going to go ahead and get one and use it in throwing drills. Unless you all are talking about the same ball, I think yall are not understanding the feel of it. It is just heavy enough that you notice it. It would not mess up mechanics at all. I will report back and let you know how it worked.
