Is anyone else out there who is a Hudl Hoarder?
Any team on our schedule that we have yet to play, I ask for film. I find who they played and send a request to their most recent opponent. Actually can't believe how much film we end up getting. By this time of the season, I usually have every game of my opponent the week before we play. I sit down on Friday night and ODK the crap out of them. Then on Saturday morning I start breaking it down at my house and truly watching the games.
I never offer exchanges to my opponents. I already have their film so I just wait for them to offer the exchange to me.
Anyone else do this? Is this a douche bag move?

The not offering exchanges part is a total dbag move. We do the same as far as getting film but if they hadn't we still offer like a non douche.
Maybe that's just me though, if they don't offer maybe they do the same. We always offer

I guess I should also say that I am not the one who puts our film up on Hudl, so that's main reason I never offer exchange. Our coach who always puts the film up is the one who accepts the requests or offers exchange. He also adds them to our proper libraries as teams accept the offers for film.
I guess I was asking if it is a douche bag move to have their film before they have ours? Some teams don't accept offers until Monday sometimes around here. It stinks not getting film until Monday. Even had Tuesday a time or two over the years. So for these reasons I find it is important to start gathering film as soon as you can. Some of the teams we play don't take film near as serious as we do. It's not that they do this to be jerks, but they either already have film (which I doubt) or they don't watch much film (which is what I think is most likely.)
They get ODK pretty much immediately by whoever on staff can get to it first. Or everyone will do a game. Then a coach burns it on to DVDs as the internet in our area is unreliable. On top of games, OC will get just the other teams defensive plays. DC will get games as well as just the other teams offensive plays. We just watch them at home over the weekend when we get time. On Monday we are ready to rock and roll with film and walk through formations. Coaches discuss and start finalizing plans for that weeks game.
Do you guys send film to pretty much whoever asks you? I feel like we collect and share more film than most teams.

We exchange every game with every team in our region so it's not that big deal for us. I think that with hudl guys are a bit more free with the film than in the past with physical exchanges, not to sound like an old guy but now days people seem to think since it's the Internet everything should be free for them and think that has carried over with film exchanges.
Really I could care less. I watch the last two games for a break down then cruise through anything else we have. Not gonna over load myself with info and chase ghosts. Stop what they do the best and make them do stuff outside their comfort zone.

At my old place we collected everything we could get our hands on. We aren't a hudl team but our server was loaded with everything we could find and I'd do the breakdown on old games when I had some free time (usually waiting for some other team to share with us). I even converted old DVDs and VHS.
At my new place we aren't nearly that we'll set up yet (though the IT lady says we'll be able to use the central school servers and network after the season!!!) so I have to be really careful about what we take on. I actually have to delete practice every week or so. It's a shame because that stuff comes in handy just often enough to be useful.

I have every game our week 9 opponent has played thus far. I have every game on a team in our district that we won't play till roughly week 12 in the playoffs as well. I might start waiting till they ask for film.

It seems to me that they're not asking for a reason: They already have the film.

I get film on opponents early and often. Many teams in our league won't trade with me, so I get it when/where I can. I always offer ours up though and if our opponent doesn't want it, fine.
I'm also willing to give up whatever anybody we play wants. Need film on another opponent? Sure. Want three of my games? That's fine. Kids have to execute. Them seeing every offensive snap I have been involved with for two years doesn't replace the need to go Out and play. No secrets here.

I think hudl ought to create a hudl exchange program. You can opt in or not. You choice. If you opt in, any other team in the world on hudl can get your film. And you can get any other teams games who have opted in also. That would be cool. I would opt in.
At least their should be hudl leagues where you do that.

Our staff is lucky, in that we have numerous different connections around our state. We usually have every relevant game of an opponent. And, we aren't above throwing a rival under the bus.
Oh, you play the guys we hate? Oh, and you have 3 games of our top district opponent? Yeah, I think we can work something out. Interested in their 4 regular season games and their scrimmage? Good.
We start getting film as early as possible, and I usually start the break down stuff early. It might not always be accurate by weeks 7 or 8, but knowing what they were trying to do in the opener can tell you a lot, even later.

Guy that was here before me used to really run it up on teams. We are talking 60 point blowouts Nd still throwing to his dudes well into the 4th quarter. There is a lot of bad blood around excuse of it. The conference hates us. Fortunately most guys will give us whatever we want after we play them so I can usually get stuff on other opponents. It just isn't the most convenient.

There was this complete psycho coaching at a small private school in the area. He was a first year coach.. former FB for the Colts and Raiders.. played at McNeese state... I will let you figure him out.
His big thing was "I dont trade film."
He even had tshirts made with that as a hash tag.
Jokes on him in this day and time.. because you can be assure that he was the only person without film.

Some of this would be considered "bush league" by a few coaches in another thread... I'm with rsmith627...all the film in the world doesn't impact the fact it comes down to execution by players on each team on game day.

I'm going to get the film anyway. Just give it to me. Can't stand that.

We have a district rule that we trade 2 films 10 days out and the latest film by 9am Saturday morning. It's professional and everyone abides by the rule. If you want more film, then it's on you to get it. Another district I was in traded every game. We all abided by it. You got every game, so you didn't need to go around anyone. If you don't exchange the film you face a forfeit. That is a pretty good discourager.
Back in the old days I couldn't stand a school that wouldn't trade film because they went out and got our film from other people. It's bush league. I am thankful to be in Texas where you are going to have very few exchange issues. We exchange two angles intercut with our opponents. We exchange a wide and a tight. If I have a connection who has end zone film of who we are playing I will get the end zone from them.
Not exchanging is a BS Bush league move and should get you throat punched. The funny thing is, when I was coaching up north the only programs we had a hard time exchanging with were crap programs. The elite programs always traded film and we had very few issues.

We have to upload to a pool for our league. But I also accumulate as much film as I can.

I would take any film we could/ would get and break down both teams on it. Even if they weren't on our schedule for that year. Never know when that HC or OC will be on a future schedule.... and play calling tendencies are tendencies. Our league has a Hudl "bank". Every week games are uploaded into Hudl for all teams in the league. So, I could theoretically start working on weeks 7, 8, 9 with old film if I wanted to. It's nice for guys like me that want to get a leg up on inputting data early.
