I don't know if you've ever held one of these before but, if not, it's a great way to get your mom's on board with the program. I've written a quick blog post on what we've done in the past. Hoping to get a few more ideas from coaches who have been doing these for a while. www.smartcoaching.co/?p=164

One of my good buddy's is in his first year at a new program and did this. It was a REALLY positive experience for the players and their moms and the community response has been great.

We do this every year or every other year...depends on space being open. Moms love it. We have an official come in and explain the calls and what he is looking for. We got through some indy. Line them up in our O and D and explain the positions. it's funny to see which moms get really competitive about it.

We had a "mom's camp" this year and it was actually a lot of fun. We basically ran the mothers/sisters/aunts through a typical day of practice. They went through an install meeting, pre-practice, INDY, special teams, weight room, team period. We all coached the positions, but their son was their personal coach in all drills and team and things like that. I think it was highly beneficial for everyone just from a "not peewee football" stand point. Most were surprised as to how much there was to it. It's really not just a go out and play type thing. The mom's loved it, were taking pictures and talking about it on Facebook for months. and a "funny" story about it. I was having trouble with one of our LBs on his reads/run fit. I was talking to him about it after practice one day, his mom was there to pick him up, we were walking to her car. We get to the car and she over heard our conversation and she asked what was going on. I told her, she said "you mean like I learned at camp?" I said "yep" she looked at her son and said "your guard blocks down, you stack the 5...how hard is that?" (so apparently all we really did was create mom experts instead of just dad experts). THIS just made my day! Wonderful story!

Always thought this would be a good idea, but have never taken the time to put it together. I think it's something we could work into our camp week. Also, why do I see this when I think of @dcohio at mom's camp?

We had it for everyone, moms and dads. That way they all know what we do and why we do it.
